Finally something upscale in the west end. I’ve lived in Kingston most of my life and if I wanted to sit down to a nice dinner I had to go downtown. Since I currently live on the west end this place’s fantastic menu and convenient location made me was ecstatic after we first heard about it and after the first time we visited. We’ve since been back quite a few times, I recommend you make sure you head to Costco first for 2 x 50$ GCs at 80$. The only downfall we’ve found is that sometimes service is a bit odd. Once the host delivered menus and took our orders while our server seemed to ignore us. She later caught on that we were her table but was still a bit absent offering my boyfriend coffee after dinner but not me then feigning shock that I wanted coffee too. Another time we went with my mom and the server continual cleared my boyfriend and my’s plates but not my mothers. Food is really great though which more than makes up for the unusual service.
Comfortable and delicious. We’d been meaning to go for years, and what a treat it is. Delicious meat and vegetarian mains, wonderful dessert, and good wine list. Despite the number of tables, the atmosphere is comfortable and intimate, and the servers were excellent. Our new favourite in Kingston.
Take Out. In case you don’t know…….pick up, take out is available!Just had a delicious anniversary dinner from Days on Front.Have you noticed that you can buy discount gift certificates at Costco?Everything we ordered was amazing…….polenta! Scallops! Warm salad! Calamari! Pork Tenderloin!…….
Had the tempura shrimp to start, which was good though it was a tad salty. However the aioli was exceptional. For my main course I had the duck salad. The duck was perfect, tender and moist. The figs and apples added a perfect amount of sweetness and a nice texture. The peanuts rounded the whole thing out with a little added saltiness that complimented the sweetness of the apples perfectly. Service was great. The waiter gave us time to chat between courses, and was very courteous. And the quality of food is exceptional for the price. I’d recommend this place to anyone, don’t be spooked by the fancy cuisine and atmosphere.
Great little spot. Very busy, friendly staff, great food. My new favourite. As with every other restaurant I go to, everyone else had bread except me! I have to ask every time. 🙁
Wow!. Second generation restauranteur Matthew Day of downtown Kingston’s Aquaterra fame has developed a very pleasant restaurant in the somewhat unlikely setting of a mature suburban service plaza. You won’t go for the neighbourhood anyway, it’s all about the mostly locally sourced sumptuous food and competent service within a very contemporary interior. The menu is sensibly economical in variety so everything can be exceptional, – and it is.For lunch I had the Seared Scallops ($11) with bacon jam, pine nuts with leeks and brown butter to start. Simple and fantasic! My main was a picture perfect Duck Confit Salad ($14) on a trendy quinoa base along with apple, spinach & arugula, figs and cashews. Another wow.For those of us who are so unfortunate as to live far away, they are open for lunch Monday to Saturday, so anyone making the culinary challenged trek along the 401 to/from Montreal or Ottawa can take advantage of a thoroughly refreshing stop. It’s about 7 km south of the 401 along Gardiners Road with a jog right and left and then south on Days Road to 730 Front Road.I’d recommend reservations if you can as they are already very popular, just as you would expect at any other of Canada’s top restaurants.
