Walked in and expected a wait for the patio. Hostess was prompt and courteous about the wait time. We chose to sit in the bar area and wait for our table to open up. Currently still sitting here at the 15 minute mark and not one server has approached us about getting a drink or appetizer order. Normally the service and good is decent, something you would expect from a chain restaurant that had high training standards for staff. Not sure what happened today (23 May 2016)

It’s chain food, but I’ll give it the ghost pepper poutine that was great. I did not expect so much spice from chain food. The roof top patio is the best spot in Kingston. Wish the had better beers on tap.

The one thing Jack Astor’s does well is their rooftop patio, it is great in the summer because you have great views of downtown Kingston and the atmosphere is great. The food is an entirely different story, I had The Memphis steak with peppercorn sauce, fried onions, sweet potato fries and vegetables. Along with my tropical sangria, it was a pricey meal, and for the food I was served, it definitely was not worth ti. The steak was overcooked, hard and not very flavorful and the side dishes were nothing special. Food is mediocre, drinks are expensive – would only come back for the patio.

Meh. They think they are it but they arent. Trip back to alma mater and were four young men looking for decent food or as decent food as you can find in a town where the university cafeteria won’t do it anymore. Had some kinda Asian Thai chicken. Fine. Waitress not earning her tip and way too covered up to be taken seriously. They are in a main location and they know it.
