Good atmosphere. Pub food really good. Loved the pork belly sandwich. Soup choices nice as are the beer choices. Someone here raved about the pork tacos too.

Great service, great atmosphere. Everything thing on the menu was amazing and the beer selection changes up. Love this bar. I have no complaints about this bar. Well maybe the three women whom took like 176 selfies in 27seconds but not the bars fault.

Our second trip to the Red House and we were not disappointed. The beer and cider were cold and crisp. Beer nuts delish as always. The boss had the Pulled Pork Tacos and the were fantastic. I had the burger, which was tasty, but the topper was the Lime Black Bean soup for my starter. What an awesome combination of taste sensations. Pubs here are so much better than in staid, boring Ottawa. Great job guys

Great pub-restaurant with the emphasis on pub. Alongside Stone City Ales, the Red House is my favourite place for a swift one on the way home. The ambience is friendly and uncomplicated, the regular beer line up is fine and the guest beers are often unusual and sometimes outstanding (especially those from Quebec’s tiny Dieu de Ciel!, one of the world’s greatest breweries). I’ve been here for lunch and dinner too, and while the food can be very good, it can also be variable – the comments I’ve seen about the charcuterie plates are indeed accurate – some things are disappointing. But the Korean pork belly and the creme brules are outstanding. Just remember it’s not really a restaurant, much more a pub, and on Fridays and Saturdays it can be very crowded and loud. So don’t come here expecting a restaurant.

Good Beer & Food. I agree with others on this site about sometimes being understaffed and lacking on customer service. With that being said, the staff are for the most part pleasant and helpful. The menu is simple, and delicious. Beer selection is one of the best in Kingston. It is a smaller place, so don’t expect to walk in for a table after 6pm Wed- Sat.

Delicious food, interesting menu, solid beer selection.. Previously I had only ever been to Red House for drinks, as they have an expansive tap selection. We ordered a bulgur wheat chilli with deep fried pollenta chips to share as an appetizer. I have no idea why they don’t mention it on the menu, but the chilli is vegan, and so was the perfect dish to share with my vegetarian friend. The chilli was tasty and hearty with just the right consistency. It had a full flavour for a vegan dish, and the deep fried pollenta chips were a perfect companion. My only complaint would be that from reading the description it sounded like it would be sort of a chilli with a plate of pollenta chips, and so their weren’t quite enough to eat the chilli just using the chips. I had Korean-style barbequed pork belly on sticky rice with pickled red cabbage with a sweet and pleasingly acidic drizzle. The dish was very simple, but the balance of flavours and seasoning was perfect. The pork belly was mildy spiced, allowing the intense flavour of the meat to shine. The meat was exceptionally tender and was less noticeably fatty than I expected. My friend had a vegetarian dish: butternut squash filled ravioli in a burnt butter sauce with sesame seeds. It had an intensely nutty flavour and again was perfectly seasoned and wasn’t overbearingly rich. With 3.5 pints of delicious beer (1 Black Oak Nutcracker Porter, 0.5 Big Rig Scotch Ale, 1 St Ambroise Cream Ale, and 1 Griffon Red), the bill was $68 and change before tip, which I think is exceptional value. The dishes were very well balanced and the seasoning was very well judged. The menu is diverse and I struggled to decide what to have. I really think that the menu could command higher prices if the presentation was more thoughtful. The presentation was definitely not bad, but more functional then pleasing in its own right.*The menu on the website is outdated.

If you should choose to go to this establishment after dark do not touch the candles on the tables. The large gentlemen with poor facial grooming habits who work at the door will get very angry. After one in our party touched the candle we were promptly asked to leave. They then got more enraged when someone else looked at them. Very poor service coupled with an abysmal staff attitude.
