Best Indian food in Kingston…and no corkage fee!. Usually the unique, specialty, restaurants are in downtown Kingston, but theres at least one in the West End: Sabers Taste of India. Whether youre a connoisseur of Indian cuisine or curious to try, they have dishes for you! I highly recommend any of the dinners for two. We usually order the customary one, which is $47 for appetizers (lots), more entrees than you can eat and dessert. They dont mind substituting one chicken dish for another or one beef for another and will even let you bring your own wine without having to pay a corkage fee!Saber (the owner and chef) makes each dish separately so you can get it as mild or as spicy as you like and hell likely come around at some point during your meal to greet you personally. He seems to really enjoy what he does. My favourite dishes are mulligatawny soup, butter chicken (its the sweet, yellow-sauce one and so mild that a toddler could eat it) and the spicy madras options. Although I didnt love the dhansak, everything tastes fresh and portions are large.Sabers is always clean (including bathrooms) and welcoming.Indian food is usually expensive but Sabers is significantly cheaper than Curry Original and I like it better. I always leave full and satisfied!
Kingston Indian Restaurant. Having recently returned to Kingston after living & dining in downtown Toronto for the past fifteen years, it was easy to recommend my favourite restaurants. The selection in culinary delights was extensive and my friends & associates were always delighted. In my search for a good local Indian restaurant, I visited Saber’s Taste of India and spoke with the owner Saber, we discussed the menu and off menu selections.I am pleased to share that my expectations were exceeded. The Aloo Mutter (spicy) and Butter Chicken (tomato base) dishes were exquisite …. not sure how my friend / chef in Toronto will react to this though! LOL ;-)Thanks Saber….
An incredible Gem.. This was our first time at Saber’s and it will NOT be our last! We stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant almost by accident. The waiter and the owner are incredibly friendly and generous. Every dish is authentic and it is evident that this is not just another restaurant for this owner, but a true passion.
Great Service. Had dinner with a girlfriend……delicious shrimp curry and plentiful serving…had wine but was informed that you can BYOB with no corking fee…..will return again. It was nice talking with owner as well.
Sabre friendly impeccable food and service. Always friendly, owner & chef comes out after meal to question how we liked everything. Our go to place for family get togethers for flavour but also because gluten free!
I love Saber’s!. I love this restaurant! And I love Indian food! I’ve eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants both in Canada and the U.S. Saber’s is one of my fav’s. He is always so willing to accommodate personal tastes….so you get exactly what you want. If he is not overly busy he comes to your table to personally hear how you feel about your meal (how many restaurant owners do that?). And because I’m celiac…….there is great comfort in knowing I am well taken care of there!
Best Indian food. Went here for my cousins birthday. Food was scrumptious and service was fast and friendly. Saber came out and welcomed all his guests personally.
