10 of us ordered pha. 9 beef and 1 chicken. The broth and noodles were bland and without flavour, and were not hot. 3 people sent their soup back to be heated. One of the beef broths was red with beef blood, not even cooked. The one guy who had chicken, got food poisoning and missed 2 days work (reported to City of Kingston).
I have been a fan of Saigon Delights restaurant on Bagot St. for about 10 years. It has always been one of my favourite places to eat (my favourite dish is the #13 [Com Thai]). However, since the new location opened on Gardiner’s Rd. and the staff has changed a lot at the downtown restaurant, I find the quality of food has also diminished. I’ve kept going back hoping for an improvement (sometimes restaurants just have a bad night), but my most recent visit may be my last. We ordered shrimp rolls, Jasmine tea, and three orders of Com Thai (#13).Our tea was cold and we had to ask for a fresh pot (they just poured some out and added more hot water)–as was the tea of another customer sitting a few tables away. Our shrimp rolls came 10 minutes *after* our main course and they forgot the extra sauce we asked for, the flavours in the dish were really off–there was an overwhelming taste of chicken bouillion, the bok choy was overcooked, and the rice was very lumpy.Does anyone know if the original staff/owners are still around and possibly working at a different location? I’d be willing to go to that other location because THEY make great food and offer friendly service. I hate to give this place a bad review, but maybe it will encourage them to step up their game.

I hate that I live in Ottawa now, and that I can’t go to Saigon Delights every week like I did when I lived in Kingston. I love this place so much, and haven’t had a single Vietnamese restaurant in Ottawa live up to the high standards these guys set. Stupid Ottawa.
The food is Awesome! I love the #6.
