Thai Food. Overall I have had 2 fairly good experiences here. If you are in the west end it is handy for a healthy meal. The prices are average and the food comes served piping hot. They have a gluten free menu which is nice and so far, all the meals have been tasty and fresh. The service is sometimes a bit slow but overall I have enjoyed this restaurant and find it’s food choices better than some of the thai places out in the east end.
Surprisingly negative experience. Siem Reap is no longer one of my favourite places to eat. I have never had a bad experience until Saturday, March 30, 2013. I asked about the hot and sour soups and ordered the bamboo version. It was so bad I decided not to eat it. Upon consultation with the owner/manager/cook, I was told there was nothing wrong with it and I had to pay for it, despite the fact it was not consumed beyond tasting. Truthfully, it was like dishwater with the addition of the taste of canned tomato soup. I am a server. I would never ask a customer to pay for a meal they did not like and I have never worked for an establishment that would do that either. I noticed the restaurant wasn’t full. I think I know why. Something fundamental and very important has changed at Siem Reap. I will never go back. Why would I? Very sad.
Very good for the price. We come here regularly. The food tastes good. The decor is simple and the service very friendly. No desserts, and no liquor licence. Excellent value for the very low prices.
Prices Have Gone Up. We ordered Pad Thai and a Noodle Soup Dish which should have came to $17.75 but instead came to $20 + tax. Not sure when their prices went up – in the last few months I would say. Not sure if their food is so great that I would pay $10 per dish for it. May have to shop elsewhere. It’s too bad that in the West End the food choices are so limited compared to downtown. Someone please open a Vietnamese restaurant! Something cheap and cheerful. Or a Mexican restaurant. Or a Lebanese restaurant. Kingston needs a good Shawarma place.
Bleh.. My husband and I have ordered from Siem Reap practically twice a week for the longest time. I LIVE for their sweet potato soup… but the last time we ordered it, it had like some kinda funky chicken fat or skin stuck to all the vegetables. It almost looked like wet paper towel in the dish, but was obviously meat-based. Very gross. They were considerate and compensated our order (as I was pretty much off food by then), but absolutely insisted there was nothing wrong with their product. Oh well. We won’t be ordering from here again. Try Apsara if you want to stay in the Bayridge area… pretty good food. Maybe a little pricier, but the portion sizes make up for it.
Nice Place. Food is very good… Salad Rolls are excellent!!! the service is great and the place is spotless!!! It’s a must when ever in Kingston.
Great food great prices. This place is a great thai place. It is roughly $7-$10 a plate and it is amazing. We have been going for years, its great to eat in or take out. Only downside is they are closed sunday and early on sat i think
