One of my favourite places for sushi by far! Everything is fresh and delicious and the portion sizes are great. The location is small for eating in the restaurant but if you can, choose a table near the window for more space. Take out won’t disappoint either!
It’s a really pretty restaurant and it’s super packed.I’ve been hearing SO MANY positive things about that place. Perhaps my expectations were too high. But it wasn’t too true to it’s reputation. The prices were too expensive for it’s size.I liked the waiters there. The outfits were adorable!Overall, a good restaurant but overpriced/hyped.
Fresh sushi, amazing quality and reasonable prices! Service is on point even if is packed!!This is my go to sushi restaurant in Kingston!!!
The sushi is very fresh and the quantity you get for the price is fantastic, you get good service for a small restaurant! This is our go-to sushi restaurant in Kingston!
SimaSushi is a busy place and they are always line ups outside the door. This wasthe case this evening and without reservations, it can be a wait. We gave ourname and went for a walk up Princess Street to revisit some of the boutiquesand novelty shops I had visited on my last time here three years ago. After Clergy St. Not much was to be seen andwe headed back to Sima Sushi as our table was ready. The hospitality andservice at Sima Sushi is like no other. Our waitress Mina was exceptional; shehelped us with our choices and made great suggestions. Her contagious smile andsweet voice, unwavering politeness brought back belief that humanity is goodand there are still good people out there. The decor at Sima Sushi isunpretentious and casual, a small place seating 28 people, it is easy on the eyeswith opposing burnt red walls and exposed brown grey brick wall. At the backlong sushi counter where the sushi chefs create their art. Typical of manysushi restaurants, with the exception of the wood tables, chairs and floorgiving it a country rustic feeling. We started our meal with a Sapporo beer -$4.95and lychee juice-$ 2.75. A good startfor a warm day .Brains started with ordering the Sushi Dinner-A at $ 13.95,which consisted of Miso Soup and a Green Salad with Yuzu dressing and 6 piecesof sushi and 6 California rolls. I cant say much about food presentation, thesalad portion was not generous it consisted of two carrot rounds, three lettuceleaves and a half slice of tomatoes and cucumber, with a dollop of yuzudressing, shaken not stirred .But then it was a teaser to the start of themeal, and probably meant to be that way, I believe it would have been betterserved alongside the sushi to compliment thesushi and sashimi which were super fresh. It came served on a simplewhite plate with no accoutrements; no wasabi, no sliced marinated ginger.Nonetheless, Brains was pleased.I ordered of course the Rock Star-$ 10.95 whichconsisted of 8 pieces of Shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, avocado, and cucumber andfish egg. This was a great palate pleaser and very fresh as well, it made Ifeel like a Rock Star and the staff made us feel really special. I am theproverbial Rock Star mom (to a few) although lately I dont feel like that butI must say this dish boosted my ego and my mood for a moment. I forgot thepresent and thought of my past accomplishments. So uplifting, I thought, thatsome food & good words can have this effect.SIMA Sushi focus is on simple foundations ofquality ingredients, exciting dishes, at fair prices They hit the mark withtheir assortment of sushi, sashimi, rolls and cooked Japanese dishes, a warmlocale and great service. Three years in and they are still going strong; theline ups are long and the food consistent.A must try for any sushi lover when in Kingston and locals alike. Weleft with a good feeling and energy to walk around the waterfront contemplatinglife in Kingston. So easy we thought, this small town life with no stress is sosoothing for the soul and the morale. Albeit a heavy heart this was a real momentto cherish and a new good memory to add to my book of pleasant adventures. montrealfoofoodie.com
It’s definitely one of the better restaurants for sushi! But it’s also one of the pricier restaurants too. They are usually busy around dinner time so I recommend reserving a table or just going a bit early! Also, if you are going for lunch, I highly recommend getting the Sima Lunch Set. It’s a great value for your dollar!!
I have been here a few times and always love it. The sushi is fresh and they have some unique maki rolls. I had the salmon love love roll which was uber tasty- though very large and each piece was worthy of two bites!
