Service/What service? from Ottawa. OMG! This place needs some staff training!We walked in no one greeted us at the door. We sat ourselves down and waited for a server to come. We only wanted a beer and soft drink. I had to do the wave one had first and then two to flag down a server and was by passed by 3 servers and still with no service! We were not impressed at all got up to leave after waiting over 10 minutes to be aknowledged!It was until we went to the bar and pay for the soft drink when a server came up to ask us if we wanted a table.We expressed that we were already here and no one came to take our order. He said oh sorry and we walked out. Never going back there again!
A Trip Back in Time. It’s definitely fun going into a place that I could’ve imagined my great-grandparents dining at, almost a century ago! The food’s classic Britishy-Scotchie fare which is to say, not bad at all, and the pints flow freely. It’s dark and loud, but the atmosphere really adds to the romance of imagining Kingston as it was a century ago.
Great little pub. Friendly staff and attentive manager. My meal was delayed by a large Scotties championship crowd filling the pub to bursting. The menu is interesting and ambitious – which, based on other comments about the speed of service, might cause problems from time to time. I’d like to come back for a slow Sunday lunch.
Good but Small. Four of us traveled to Kingston, ON for a day trip. We had lunch at Sir John’s Public House. We sat outside. We did not have a long wait for our food. The food was upscale pub grub, good but not great.
Small Pub. Not a bad little spot but I felt as though there wasn’t a great deal of privacy since the tables were so close together. Also given that it is a small pub when there is a table next door that has a child, it can get pretty loud and distracting. Prices were pretty reasonable. $6 for imported beer. They had a special on for Feb Fest whereby you can get a burger or fish and chips for $10 (reg price $14). The menu is somewhat limited and seems very British. As a result, I don’t see myself going back here too many times (not that many items I want to try off the menu). Their dessert menu is a bit lacking as well. Nothing with chocolate in it! They have a 3 course menu deal for $20. I likely would have gone for it if they did not have the special for Feb Fest. Service was good but a tad bit slow due to it being a bit busy and there being only 2 servers. It’s too bad they don’t have their menu posted online. They seem to also serve brunch possibly only on Sundays? $10 for everything on the breakfast menu which includes things like your standard 2 eggs, meat and potatoes, french toast, fried egg sandwich etc.
I have been here twice for brunch and the food was decent the first time but not so good the second time…the haggis hash was very dry and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. The atmosphere was not very scottish. Won’t be going back.
