I dont often give a 5 star but I could eat here often! They have foods that are Portuguese inspired but presented so much better and they have the more typical rustic meals. I think I have tried every item on the menu and although there are a few I dont feel the need to repeat… there are many others I have regularly. The must try apps are the shrimp, mussels, clams and octopus (if you love seafood). With the mains I also lean toward the fish, mostly the grilled fish served whole. If whole fish (with the head still on is not for you and of the other fish specials will not disappoint and I always ask for extra cabbage or rapini since they are always perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you want to try a combo of meat and seafood the Carne de Porco a Alentejana has everything and wonderfully oily sauce at the bottom to dip every morsel before eating. On the meats my husband always gets the veal chop (not always on the menu), any steak or his favourite the Bife a casa (which is also called bitoque and was my childhood favourite). The BBQ chicken is very tasty and a great option if you are eating in or picking up takeout (which we often order for big family parties). The portions are enormous dont fill up on bread (I know its hard)If you are adventurous and want to try a Portuguese specialty call ahead and reserve the Cozido for lunch on Sunday, its a mix of meats and veggies all boiled together (if the thought of boiled meat gets you, skip this). The desserts remind me of treats my aunts made as a child or desserts at the downtown restaurants we would visit on special occasions. Natas do Cu is the most unique to Portuguese cuisine and a must try!
Food – 10/10, the best! You have to try the shrimp piri piri and obviously all the fish is amazing. Highly recommend the chicken also with the home made hot sauceService – 9/10 – Very friendly and helpfulAmbience – 10/10 – We went on a Wednesday night and sat along the windows near the front. The food came quick and we were always attended to but they didn’t rush us out and we truly enjoyed our time here. Thanks LD!
Great food great atmosphere. Friendly staffs As for a traditional Portuguese dish, the steak with chips should have a creamy garlic sauce instead of brown sauce.
