We’ve been buying fresh baked bread from this bakery for a while since returning back to London. Decided to get their festive Turkey dinner the day before Canadian thanksgiving 2015. The potions were deceptively small, but to our surprise, the Turkey, stuffing, and the mashed potatoes were more than than adequate for a huge lunch. Though the food was quite good, the potions were a bit over priced at $8.99/potion. The bakery items are really good, but beware, what they call Garlic bread and what is commonly known as garlic bread are two different things. I had to prepare a garlic paste of fresh creamery butter, garlic, Italian spices and salt/pepper to actually make it garlic bread to have it with pasta and other entres. I have sampled their desserts before and they are good. Prices seems to fluctuate (bread goes from $1.99 to $2.39) without rhyme or reason. The restaurant is more cafeteria where you wait in line pick up your food and go pay for it. While it’s definitely not fine dining, a good place to have some traditional Italian.
My friends and I have been visiting this place for years back when their personal sized pizza and coffee were $2.00. This is one of the original grocery store/delis/bakeries/eateries that have recently sprung up in many cities. Fresh baked bread and desserts and quality deli meats are a signature part of the store. The food offerings are plenty with an obvious slant on Italian dishes like pizza, fresh prepared noodle dishes, lasagna,Parmesan chicken or veal, Italian meat balls or sausages as well as many other offerings including a large salad bar. Hard to rate the service as it is all counter service but found it pleasant. Would definitely return.
Life saver!. I am so happy I found this place! Coming from an Italian family in Toronto to London to study I did not think I would be able to find Italian specialty food places here. This place has everything I need that I use at home! I would give Angelo a big thank you smooch if I could!
I ordered 2 cakes. A big cake and a sugar free baby smash cake. I calles and confirmes the order was ready th morning the Day we picked it up since we live out of the city. The forgot th baby smash cake so we got a cupcake we had to pay for inatead. I called the later that Day and sauf he woukd call me back once he found put what went wrong. Well he didnt call me back..one of his secretaries did. They offered me a free baby smash cake I could get that day..well I said thats unacceptable since I needed it yesterday and my daughter isnt allowed that kind of food..her b’day was the exception. So she talked to the owner and offered a free cookie instead. Well we live out of town so the gas money is worth more than the $5 cake or $2 cookie. When I said they would losing my business than, they did not seem to care. To me, the baby cake was the most important cake since it was my daughters for her 1st b’day. So next time you have a cake to order..Please order from one of the other bakeries in London that are still customer oriented. Its not worth supporting a company who doesnt care about thier customers or if they lose business !!!!!!!!
Good Deli, Bad Gelato. While this place has lots of fresh baked breads and a wide variety of deli meats and specialty baking products, it’s very over priced and the customer service is horrible. I have a gluten intolerance and asked the cafe staff if some of the products were gluten free. Not only did I get a very rude reply, but the lady serving me turned around to her co-workers (while I was still standing there!) to make fun of my allergy. I had their gelato ($3 for a tiny scoop…) and it was NOT FRESH at all. Highly disappointed, will not be coming back. 18carrotgold.com
