Whenever my elderly mother visits, I always take her to this quaint tearoom in Lambeth. The service is good, the food is always wonderful and we enjoy shopping in the boutique attached. They always have daily specials, homemade soups, quiches, unique sandwiches. Last visit they had squash and sweet potato soup, and their special sandwich was toasted raisin bread with melted havarti cheese and apple slices. This place is very popular so make a reservation if you can.
Calling this place a tea room doesn’t really do justice to the meals they serve.Yes, maybe tea and desserts is what they mostly do, and yes, it is decorated as a tea room, but the lunch I had there with my Mom was really, really good. The soup of the day was a roasty, full flavoured butternut squash finished with a dollop of crerme fraiche and the sandwich of the day was a stellar turkey, pear and aioli dressing wrap grilled on a panini toaster.Outstanding!Service was warm and personable, timely without being pushy. And to top it alll off, there is a great little ladies clothing shop to browse through. located in the sasme building.
