I eat sushi about once a week but this was my first visit to Ichiban. The hand roll I had was ok but it went sadly down hill from there. The tempura broccoli and asparagus were old, yellow and dried out on fact the asparagus was sold old I could barely chew it. The gyoza were greasy and deep fried instead of pan fried. ..yuck. What a waste of money. I won’t go back.
I’ve always enjoyed the sushi, miso and salad at Ichiban. However this time I decided to try something new and order the chicken Katsu. It contained a cup of sticky rice on the bottom, a few peices of chicken, and a drizzle of egg sauce. It wasn’t by any means memorable 🙁 however, that said, their sushi rolls and quality are at a higher standard than the places that use tempura flake as filler. Stick with the sushi.
Best sushi ever! I have been going here consistently for 2 years and I always have a great experience! They are so kind and treat all their customers with respect! It’s a great place to go and it fills you up without having to get all you can eat! Their sushi is beautiful and I will continue to go here whenever I can!:)
Great lunch value. The quality of the sushi is always the same… I always enjoy my lunch. The services sometimes is a little lacking but always friendly staff. I will keep going back as long as the quality of the sushi doesn’t change.
Disappointed. We are weekly sushi eaters and twice a week some weeks. Ichiban was our favorite restaurant until recently. The restaurant has not been the same since the loss of their front of house server – Jamie. We have now had 4 consecutive episodes of ordering our regular (never changing) sushi order where our order (simple order at that) has been significantly incorrect. Twice they have called us back to verify before we showed to pick it up and it was still wrong. Each of those nights, when we arrived to pick up the sushi we had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes (past the target time) and the house was filled with what seemed to be unhappy customers. The sushi was mediocre at best with little attention to the details of the preparation. The fish was not as fresh as would be ideal and that was evident in the taste and the after effects (to be polite). Not once was there an apology or an offer to make good and we are definitely regular customers. We were tolerant once, twice…but after four very bad experiences now we will not be going back here.
Best Sushi in London. We go here at least once (or twice) a week. The waitress knows our order now; we don’t even need menus! You are seated, given menus, and asked for your drink order immediately. The atmosphere is nice, and the decor is up to date. Typical menu, but I mostly stick to the sushi. My boyfriend is not a sushi fan but he LOVES the chicken yaki udon, he always orders it. It comes out hot and steaming and is only $10 considering that the portion size is very respectable. I have ordered a lot of specialty rolls on the menu, but my favourites are the boston roll and kamakage salmon. It is always super fresh and the rolls are bigger than other sushi restaurants I’ve been too. It’s also fun to watch the sushi chefs make your order. The plates are quirky and fun shapes, which is a small detail but it definitely highlights the food. I have never ordered all you can eat because the 2 rolls are enough for me (they are that big!). Even though it is a typical menu it is expansive and has a lot of variety. Tempura, dumplings, and miso soup are excellent. The staff are attentive and are always paying attention, but also leave you alone once you get your food, which I like.Definitely worth a try!
Terrible service. The table next to us left because no one took their order. The portions are ridiculously small for their price. Food took over an hour to arrive and staff was not apologetic. Will never came back.
