This is is a tiny restaurant that is mainly geared to take out. Located on the corner of Wharncliffe Road and Kensington Avenue this place is owned by a Jamaican lady who also has an outlet in Woodstock. The menus is decidedly Jamaican with many jerk and curried dishes. We have travelled and done business in the Caribbean and are pretty particular about the native dishes. The many positive reviews of this place spurred us to try some take away here.I had the spicy Jerk Chicken and my partner had the mild Chicken Curry Roti. We also ordered the Festival, which was an after dinner doughnut like offering.The jerk chicken was served on a bed of brown rice with 3 generous pieces bathed in a not too spicy jerk sauce. The meat literally fell off the bone and was well cooked and extremely tasty. The Roti did not look like it was enough for a meal as it was in a smaller styrofoam container. That is until you pick up the box and realize it is very heavy. Needless to say the Roti was excellent.This is pretty close to authentic Caribbean and we would definitely return.August 22 2017Went to their new outlet on Huron Street which was the previous home of the Chinese Barbecue – even had some inherited Chinese decor which leads me to believe this was a short sublet. Engaged with the owner who indicated that they had a decision to make soon on keeping this large space and judging on the sparse crowd don’t know that this outlet will survive. Owner and cook were very engaging and sincere making us want to be positive in my review.Started out with 4 mini patties and delicious dipping saucePartner had the Curried chicken and I had the jerk pork for main course. Her meal was good but had too many small pieces of bone throughout which took away from the meal. Mine was tasty but also included several large pieces of untrimmed fat.Not sure they will have the patience to continue at the Huron Street location. The meals we had here were just average and not enough to draw us back soon.

You have to try the jerk chicken from this place, it’s actually spicy and perfectly juicy. I highly recommend the dumplings which are made fresh to order (like hush puppies but better) and the oxtail stew. The delivery was very prompt and I don’t even mind the $6 fee, that’s how good the food is. And it’s true what the other reviewers said about the service, the woman who helped me over the phone was so generous and very kind! I have a new go-to spot for Jamaican in London and I’m pretty sure my wallet is going to hate me for it! 18carrotgold.com
True Jamaican. After searching for quite a long time for some authentic Jamaican food I finally found this little gem. The ladies that work there are very friendly and treat you like family. The food is fantastic! I’ve spent some time in Jamaica, so I can verify the food’s authenticity. Now, my hubby and I make it a point to go out of our way to eat here pretty much every time we are in the city.
Great food, but order ahead!. I thought this would be like one of several Caribbean restaurants I’ve eaten at before in Toronto or Ottawa so I just went in to get some food without calling ahead. However, the food is made fresh to order so you need to call ahead to place your order first. The wait was worth it though. We had veggie rotis and they were really delicious.
Eat here you’ll be glad you did. I’m a sucker for jerk chicken and this place delivers the best I’ve had in the city. I never knew chicken could be so tender, it falls right off the bone. Love this place I will be returning. My only complaint is that they accept cash only despite there being no sign indicating this and VISA/mastercard stickers on the door and cash registers.
