We went to this Bistro as my daughter, who lives in London, had heard good things about it – big disappointment. The meal took 1 hour and 20 minutes and we ordered two salads and a tuna wrap. The wrap was canned tuna, two pieces of tomato and some iceberg lettuce – that’s it. The wrap was $11.95 with fries and the fries were cold when the meal finally arrived. There were about 4 tables ordering food while we were there. To put my disappointment in perspective – I travel a lot and in the last 12 years I have eaten approximately 3000 meals in restaurants and today is the first review I have ever written and the meal ranks as one of my top 3 biggest meal disappointment. My daughter liked her salad.

We have liked this local place previously, but we had a terrible dinner tonight. The service was very poor with a waiter clearly disgruntled with management, the music was bad and loud, and the meal was mediocre at best. Wrong drink orders, dirty cutlery and no new ones brought after appetizer, poor wine list with limited option, Menus made of paper were in tatters, and more. A real drag all around which is sad because we like to walk here – but it’s really not worth it.

Went here for lunch maybe a month ago. Had the veggie burger and was good. Came back tonight on a date and I had the roasted garlic with brie and the arancini balls. She had the minted lamb burger with fries. The brie on toasted baguette with roasted garlic was good, could have been a bit more melted. They didn’t have spicy jam but the waiter brought some peach jam they had, as well as a savoury hot sauce. The hot sauce was amazing with the brie! Ask for that on the side to try if you order the brie. The arancini balls were okay – I’ve had better, but you get 3 and there’s a bit of sauce and a small piece of feta, I think, on top of each ball. Probably wouldn’t order again. She liked the lamb burger though asked for no onions and still got them.Good selection of beers for only having about 8 on tap, including Grimbergen Dubbel & Kronenburg 1664, 2 of my faves. We started out on the patio at the fire but got cold and moved inside. Waiter changed the tablecloth for us and was very nice and helpful. Spent about 20 minutes at the end talking to the owner about the place, the neighbourhood, etc. Turns out we have a mutual acquaintance (as all Greeks know each other – confirmed haha). If they had stools at the bar, I’d be there more often in the summer! Live music will be outside Wed/Thurs/Sun. Go and check it out, worth it once at least.

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant for the first time last week. Absolutely loved the entire experience. The food quality is amazing and very reasonably priced! The food was even more incredible- especially the calamari, and the portion sizes were perfect! Definitely walked out satisfied with the food and service. We will most definitely be returning again on a regular basis.

After a disaster of a day we decided to go for a date night. The sweet onion was elegantly casual. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and more than happy to answer your questions. The chef is also more than willing to come out and talk to you. The meals presentation was fabulous very Avant garde. everything was done perfectly, my steak was cooked perfectly rare. The entire experience was just an amazing way to end a dreadful day. Thank you and we will most definitely be returning.

Not many options for vegetarians. I asked the server and she never did notify me of the options available. I had a greek salad which was average at best.Soo, I went back to this restaurant a month ago and they had changed their menu. It was a much better experience and the food was much improved. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating. 29 Mar, 2015Meh. Nothing special.

Excellent atmosphere, even better food. I visited the sweet onion for the first time a few months ago and fell in love with the food and staff immediately. Our server was a Habs fan named Tyler. He was very friendly, accommodating and he knew the menu like the back of his hand. He was able to answer questions without missing a beat, maintained a calm/cool demeanour and seemed deeply invested in our satisfaction, despite how busy the place was. As far as the food is concerned I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad experience. I’m always super impressed with my meal. Notable favourite dishes would be the greek poutine (if you visit the sweet onion this is a must), the Montreal smoked meat sandwich (sounds simple, but it’s by far the best I’ve ever had), the lamb and no meal would be complete without an order of Saganaki. If you live in the area, or are just passing through and have time for a meal and a drink I urge you to stop in at the sweet onion. You won’t regret it.
