So delicious! The combo platters are perfect for sampling everything. It was my boyfriend’s first time trying injera and he loved it too. The staff at this restaurant are very welcoming and the restaurant, though small, is decorated with really interesting textiles and Ethiopian artwork. Highly recommend!
So if you’ve never had Ethiopian food before this can be kind of a messy experience (in a good way!) but lets just say it’s not a first date kind of place. The atmosphere seems romantic at first with the dim lighting and cozy decor but really it’s more of a laugh-out-loud-watch-tv-while-you-eat kind of place. The food is delicious and meant to be shared. As other reviewers have mentioned, you eat with your hands and pick up their various beef/chicken/veggie dishes with a type of sourdough crepe called injera which is made of teff flour. My favourite dish has to be their spicy Doro Wat (chicken and egg type dish) or their spicy lentils. Brace yourself for full bodied flavours, generous portions, and possibly a food coma! 18carrotgold.com
The name is the capital of Ethiopia and of course the food is also Ethiopian. Situated in a quiet area this place is a diamond in the rough! The food is based on using the soft sour pancake bread called injura to use to scoop out the food from a large round plate. The most popular are the combination plates that are chicken, beef, vegan or a chicken/beef combination. Aside from the main ingredient these combinations include red and green lentils, cabbage, and chard. We included freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee which was tasty and full bodied.Service was exceptional and the waiter returned several times to elaborate on our food selection and Ethiopian coffee customs. Food was served promptly and hot. Price was very reasonable. Would highly recommend the experience!
Spicy + Flavourful!. Just went yesterday with a group of friends and I’m already craving more today! It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was full of flavor and had just the right amount of spice, and the no-cutlery approach made the evening a lot of fun too. Will definitely go again. Hopefully very soon!
Not that great. The food is adequate but didn’t meet my expectations considering the rave reviews that this restaurant has been getting. The flavours are lacking and the portions don’t reflect the price.
Excellent spot. If you enjoy beutifully presented food that’s delectably amazing, wonderful and attentive service… than this is the restaurant for you. Excellent prices and unique vibe. A must go if you’re in London.
This is a must eat spot for all those living or visiting London! Great food and a chance to experience some culture in a burger and fries world. Sharing food with friends and family, thats what life is all about!
