So happy we found this gem!. I have heard about this place from some friends but never knew where it was located. I work downtown and have actually walked past this place a few times, with it’s quaint little location. I was to soon realize, that this place isn’t a walk by grab and go joint, but a slow-food movement, a quaint yet character filled destination! I decided to throw a dinner with some friends, there was 6 of us and we started off with 2 bottles of wine. The waitress recommended J Lohr and it was really good. We’re all wine-os so after the first sip, I knew we could trust the taste in our server. I got the spring rolls for an appetizer and you can really tell that they were made fresh —they were actually the best ones I’ve ever had. For my entree, I had the Salmon special with wild rice and brocoflower. They cooked the salmon perfectly – pink in the middle, just the way it should be prepared! I’ve never had wild rice before and it was a pleasant surprise too. The waitress was very charming and made sure our wine glasses and water were always full. I will definitely be coming back to this place again — so happy we finally found this gem!
POOR SERVICE AND COLD FOOD. I recently went to the Braywick for the first time on my birthday, and I was very disappointed. They served everyone with their meal at our table expect one of us. We sat there and waited for all of us to be served and it took 15 minutes. The food came cold initially so waiting really didn’t matter. The service was horrible! Our server never came back to take a second drink order. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so that wasn’t why our server was obsolete. I will never go back there. It wasn’t worth my time or my money. I get better service and food at chain restaurants.
I’ve been to Braywick many, many times and had always enjoyed it. My last visit, was very likely my last visit. I had a dish that I often had and enjoyed and it just wasn’t up to standards. When I expressed my concerns, I was told it was the same as always. It wasn’t. They finally remade the dish and, frankly, it was worse. This time I sent it back and left. There was little apology, since I was wrong on how the dish should be. A dish I had really enjoyed, at least 10 times. Later that day I called to speak to the owner. I believe a relatively new owner (at the time). I got voice mail, left a message and was never called back. Disappointing for me to lose what was a great place to take my clients for lunch. I recommend staying away, because they won’t deal with concerns, should they arise.
Excellent. Oddly enough, I was also at the restaurant on Nov. 12, and saw that couple (two ladies) leave. What was really funny was that their meals were ready within moments of them walking out the door. Tragi-comic, as they missed out on a fantastic meal. I had the duck two-ways, with baked polenta, which was excellent, and my wife had the mushroom risotto, which was also wonderful. I was quite happy with the service. We had appetizers, I had the steak tartare, which was great, my wife had a caesar salad, mediocre, and then we had dessert, which was made in-house, and was excellent (apple cobbler?). I’m going there tonight actually. Definitely recommend.
POOR SERVICE. On Friday Nov.9/12 my companion and I (had reservations) were terribly disappointed in the service. After being seated, served requested water we looked over menu and ordered our meals. The server never made eye contact to replenish our water. (the restaurant had about 8 other customers). After 45/50 mins. of waiting for our meal it was necessary to call the server requesting to speak to the manager. After being told he’s not in we informed the server we had to leave and did so.I certainly wouldn’t waste my time at this restaurant. SERVICE POOR!!!!
I’ve eaten here twice and both times were some of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. The menu is small, but the quality of the food is incredible. Everything was delicious, service was friendly and excellent and the cozy ambiance of the location makes this quite possibly the best restaurant in the city. HIGHLY recommended!
BEST for lunch. I work DT, so this place is a 2 minute walk away which comes in handy. Lunch time is the peak time for Braywick and can sometimes be a few minute wait depending on when you get there. However, I have never tasted sweet potato fries like what they have there in my LIFE! The dipping sauce that they give you with it is to die for (I ask everytime I go what’s in it, but they keep it a secret hah). The Chicken Sandwich comes with the sweet potato fries and it is the perfect size to share (you couldn’t eat it alone)… Also the soup is amazing… They have specials everyday and if your lucky enough to be in there when they make roasted red pepper soup, you’ll be in heaven. I have always had good service when I’ve gone so have no complaints in that area. The atmosphere is also very nice and cozy. Definitley my first choice when it comes to lunch out with everyone.
