We are staying at the Days Inn while my mom is in hospital. Noticed out front that they have a breakfast special for $6.75 that includes coffee. How can you go wrong at that price? The service is quick and accurate, and the staff is very friendly. Everything was excellent, including the coffee! Highly recommend to anyone needing breakfast in the area.
FOOD:We had come here for breakfast on a Thursday morning at around 10:30 am as we were staying in the Days Inn. I had settled on the Breakfast Wrap ($8.95) with no onion, while my husband had ordered the 1 Egg With Sausage & Rye Toast ($5.75 + $0.50 For Rye Toast), plus a coffee ($1.90). My Breakfast Wrap consisted of eggs, cheese, bacon, and tomato; it was very tasty, and cut-in two large halves, which I found to be very filling. I was also given a large portion of homefries, which were delicious, although they did lack some salt, which I made-up for by dipping them in ketchup. My husband’s meal came with three sausages, two pieces of toast that were cut into halves, the egg, and also homefries. He also mentioned how filling it was, and how well-prepared they had made the items. I thoroughly enjoyed the food here, and found that for the price, it was excellent quality, making me want even more! I’ve been to many restaurants that are attached to hotels and wasn’t too impressed with their food however, this restaurant definitely made-me believe in hotel restaurants again!ATMOSPHERE:This restaurant was situated in the lobby of the Days Inn Hotel, across from the White Oaks Mall. This restaurant wasn’t closed-in therefore, you were able to hear and see what was happening in the hotel lobby, which made it feel airy. However, the temperature was very cold, and since it was cold outside, it made our breakfast a litte bit uncomfortable. I actually wore my coat as I was too cold to sit there without one. The restaurant itself had many booths, along with tables and chairs. I found that the restaurant was large, with only about half of it being filled with patrons. I liked how casual and inviting it felt, definitely a great atmosphere to be in.SERVICE:We were served by a kind younger woman whom came over to take our orders, while answering all of our questions about the menu items with patience. She also came by to check on our meals as we were eating, which we found to be very courteous. I also asked her some questions about museums in London, which she honestly answered without any hestitation. Definitely great service here!COST:1 Breakfast Wrap: $8.95 + 1 Egg With Sausage & Rye Toast ($0.50 Extra): $5.75 + 1 Coffee: $1.90: $17.10 + Tax = $19.32WOULD YOU RETURN?Absolutely! For the good price of the food, tasty quality, and great service, it was definitely a good find!
Great food and service, take out orders ready in 10 minutes hot and always cooked right. Great bonus when staying at the hotel. Inexpensive option that never disappoints the waitresses are pretty cute too 😉
Choose somewhere else, even if you are staying at the hotel. The restaurant is attached to the Days Inn Hotel. When I told her that we were using a WagJag certificate she told us what it was good for, (but omitted what deserts we could choose.) There was a really small selection to choose from. When my partner was not interested in what was on the entre menu she asked if she could get a sandwich instead. Although the sandwich she wanted was less expensive, they were very strict on that we could only order from the specified options. I opted for the pepper steak with mashed potatoes which I really enjoyed. The potatoes were barely warm, and the gravy was definitely different as it had a hint of some sort of cinnamon flavour. Vegetables were not fresh, and were definitely made from a bag of mixed frozen vegetables you would get at the grocery store. Karen had an 8 oz. steak which she really did not enjoy. It was not cooked incorrectly; just not a great cut of meat and lacked flavour. Her baked potato did not even come with sour cream. Deserts were your average family stuff you could make at home. We wanted pie, but found out the only options were rice pudding and Jello. The rice pudding was cheap and didnt even have any raisons in it. Overall, the experience was kind of expensive for the quality of food which was only average even with our discounted coupon. Service was ok, and our server constantly had to refer to the menu. For example when I asked if they had anything on tap, rather than say no she just said everything we have is on the menu.
Knotty makes me happy. I absolutely adore this place! I was recommended the Knotty Pine when I was told about their very inexpensive breakfast special. I didn’t know what to expect for $5 but I was very impressed. The atmosphere is very quiet (partially due to the carpeted floor) and cozy. I love it! The background music is gentle and not blaring. The waitresses have been very polite, friendly and efficient! The breakfasts are probably typical breakfast fare, but it’s been quick, hot, and they’ve had my order bang on every time!My friend and I finally got around to having a dinner instead of breakfast last week, and we were not disappointed! Perhaps small portions on the vegetables, but not on the meet or potato! The hot turkey sandwich was piled high! :)And might I add… the coffee is excellent.Any time I’m at White Oaks I’m tempted to pop in, and I’m sure I’ll be making many more trips in the future!Oh… and they JUST updated their menu with a few new things on it!
The Typical Diner. You get what you pay for, nothing special but I have been to worse diner-style places. The only thing I left the Knotty Pine with (besides a full belly) was a good laugh. We asked our waitress for a rye and coke and she apologied and said that she didn’t have any rye and asked if we would like whiskey instead. Thanks for this and also being easy on the wallet too!
Very easy on the wallet. Your standard fare of eggs, bacon, and homefries is around $6. Located in the Day’s inn, the restaurant is bright and open offering customer and enjoyable experience.
