I went here as I had been by there and it always looked busy. Pleasantly surprised I was indeed. Special of the day was a Reuben Eggs Benny, wow what a treat. Who would have thought that corned and sauerkraut would go with eggs Benny on top. Ill be back!!
This is the latest edition in a growing number of breakfast/lunch places only open from early morning to mid afternoon. To be successful a new place like this must have a number of conditions present;1. A good varied menu focussing on breakfast and lunch2. A friendly competent and efficient staff 3. Good quality food4. Food served timely and hot5. Easy access and reasonable parking6. Clean interior7. Reasonably priced meals8. Well presented dishes9. A good internet presence. The best presented breakfasts we have experienced include Billy’s on Dundas, the Morrissey House and Sunrise Cafe. Other secondary ones include Cora’s, Prince Albert Diner and the Open kitchen and all offer more colourful breakfast items than this place and are well known for their lunch offerings. Some complain about price. Everyone selecting a restaurant has 2 opportunities to not order anything by viewing the menu on the net or asking the hostess to view the menu before sitting. Bar none the lowest priced basic breakfast is Scores who also have the best overall breakfast staff I have seen in London. Customer satisfaction can be witnessed at Scores by the large occupied parking lot and the hordes that descend on it on the weekends.Other lower priced and excellent breakfast restaurants include Early Riser, King’s Diner, Mary’s Place, and Campus HiFi. We went around 8:30 Sunday and there were under 10 in the place. By 9:30 the place was almost filled up. I had the breakfast special including 2 eggs, bacon, toast, home fries, and a small container of beans. Partner had the eggs Benedict, toast and beans. We both added coffee. Wait staff was excellent and food was good and hot. Prices were a little higher than most particularly the coffees. That may leave the door open in the future for a competing place to rise up. Interior was very clean. All in all a good experience. This place scratches an itch for the area and meets most of the criteria needed for a successful place. Would like to see your menu on line as over 80% of diners are checking the net before committing to a place – my reviews and photos had their 2 millionth hit this week.It seems like the beans accompaniment is a signature item. I don’t see them as a breakfast item and would rather like to see a bigger container offered at lunch. No real complaint just an opinion a few other diners expressed to me. They did taste good. Thanks for the well prepared meals. Would have no problem returning.
After a disappointing doctors appointment in London, I decided to head on over to good ole Starbucks on the way back to Corunna, ON (home). As I pulled around to enter the drive through, Im venting to my wife on the phone and I spot directly beside me, The Singing Chef.
