Have eaten here a few times in last few months. Every meal lovely and beautifully presented. Staff have all been friendly and attentive. Is more for nice dining so prices reflect this. It’s not a ‘fancy’ decor place but is close to down town market and theater so great location for meal out before/after a show.
Mark, the owner is a real good guy He takes pride in what he cooks and has a very high standard..I myself have tasted so so much of his food..and it was all top-notch and fully on par…very proffessional.
The service was great. The tuna starter was very good. It all seemed to be going well, and then the mains arrived. We both had steak, but we were really not that impressed with the quality of the meat. There wasn’t necessarily anything terrible about it, but I really didn’t feel like it was a $34 cut. For a tenderloin, there was quite a bit of gristle. Not sure how long it had been aged, but there wasn’t much flavour to it. The roasted potatoes, on the other hand, did seem pretty well aged. It was as if they’d been reheated and stored several times. My husband had cheesecake for dessert, and it was overpoweringly salty. I know there’s a sweet/salty trend on right now, but this was just too much. It was chocolate frangelico, but with all the salt in there, you really couldn’t taste anything. We had already complained about the potatoes, so didn’t want to send back the cheesecake, too.As I said, the service itself was good. And I appreciated that they had several wines available in half-litre. Many places just have one red blend and one white blend available in half-litre, but here there were six or seven available in the red list. I didn’t look at all at the white list. But those two things won’t be enough to lure us back.
Super friendly service and great freshly prepared food. The caesar salad and soup are my go-to for yummy lunches. Super beer selection in bottles and on tap.
Have been several times and always enjoyed both the food and the service however was very disappointed in my meal tonightOrdered the Rib Eye Medium Rare ….. It came medium well so I sent it backSecond steak came and it was cooked mediumFelt really bad for the waitress because she was sincerely apologetic Still gave a favourable tip for the great service but come on ……. if a restaurant prides itself serving a ribeye steak they should have a cook that knows what medium rare isI could have done a better job if I went to the back and cooked it myself!!!
I have been to Waldo’s a number of times and remember the old location. That said, change is good and this was a nice change. High-calibre service, those guys are pros. Great place to go for a date and a nice steak (or seafood) dinner. This is my birthday restaurant of choice. Great food, nice wine, excellent service.Thanks guys.
