My biggest issue with them is their prices/the set up for their deals. . The menu items are priced somewhat high, but come with small portions (that are conveniently not listed in the menu itself). I got the women eat free on Tuesdays deal. To get this deal you have to order an alcoholic beverage of a certain price. The Facebook page and server gave different amounts and then I asked if I could order something that costs a different amount than either of the ones given and was allowed to. The deal definitely makes the price worth it, but don’t be misled by the wording. It says you get a three course meal, which you do, but the courses are very, very small, enough to fill you, but not as grand as their wording might lead you to believe. The food itself was hit or miss with some of it being quite good and some of it being quite bland. The drink I ordered (the cotton candy one) was very tasty and fun, but I do believe these drinks are mostly overpriced. On the other hand, the decor and atmosphere are fantastic. It’s got a great mixture of cozy and sleek elements plus a rooftop patio that’s open in the summer. The servers were also very, very attentive. Ultimately, I would go back, but only to take advantage of their deals.
Came here for quick drinks on the weekend and really liked the ambience. Atari has a lounge/fine-dining kind of feel to it. The drinks are expensive, but apparently girls eat free on Tuesdays. The drinks have very creative, fun names, giving the place a more modern vibe. Enjoyed it and would be glad to come back.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Atari, especially with their rating here, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We went to Atari with a group of 20 on Saturday and often when you’re in a group the service and food quality isn’t the same, but we found the server to be very attentive and quick. My husband ordered the Tuna Tartare and was raving about it the whole way home. The Kentucky Kirby was by far my favourite cocktail, but I loved the idea and uniqueness of the one that came topped with cotton candy. I ordered the gnocchi poutine and the Cajun chicken burger, all were very good. I would definitely recommend Atari if you’re looking to stay in the market for casual drinks and trendy/not boring food. My friends and I are excited to go back on a Tuesday where ladies eat free or in the summer for their rooftop patio.
The location, decor and atmosphere of the restaurant is fun, quirky and romantic all at once. In the summer, the rooftop patio is one of the best in Ottawa. The drink menu is also very inventive, and delicious for that matter, with different levels and named after some well-loved classics. The food portions are small and pretty basic but still tasty. The service isn’t the greatest and could be better, but not a horrible experience. The staff could be a little more attentive and helpful, along with management. Their girls night special is mediocre but free food right?
A friend and I came here for after-work drinks and a snack, mainly because of the fantastic rooftop patio and the interesting cocktail menu. We had the place virtually to ourselves at 6pm on a beautiful day, but it filled up a bit more later. I ordered the peach-based cocktail ($8), which was a…
I haven’t been there personally but have heard of a couple situations where the itemized prices on the bill are correct but the math on the total bill is off. Watch your bill -calculate it manually.
Came in for ladies night – there were 9 of us as the evening progressed, but started off as two. Our server had a hard time remembering what we ordered when it was just the two of us, and we suspected it’d be that sort of night …It sure was. as the group grew and we all ordered our meals, many orders came out wrong, or didn’t come out at all. Eventually she returned to take our orders again after a few had eaten what they thought was their meal with a few special requests forgotten about (based on the assumption she’s forgotten out drink and food orders or wrong orders coming out specific for our table). But after, slowly, correct orders (including the ladies night special – set tasting menu with the purchase of a beverage) started to come out (including for those who had already eaten. Except another two who ordered actual meals off the menu – they never arrived, until the owner came to rectify the situation. He was kind enough to give us free shots, comp a those who were inconvenienced by their meal missing all together (so long as there was a 5 star review on social media) but after 3 hours of being there and not even returns for our very empty drinks / waters – either to avoid us or just inexperience, our group wasn’t overly impressed. My suggestion : avoid special events night like ladies night – or maybe sit upstairs. I’m willing to try again and sit in an area with more experienced staff to see if it’s just a very horrible one of, as the food was tasty, but the experience left a sour taste in my mouth that I can’t even tell you how amazing the truffle fries were.
