This was a pleasant find. Very reasonably priced and the food was extremely good. The service is excellent. Great atmosphere and cool music. The duck confit was one of the best Ive ever had. My wife loved the steak frites but it was a little underdone; next time shell order it medium instead of medium-rare. But my wife loved the deviled eggs.
It’s nice to see the idea of department store restaurants making a comeback. That being said, this 21st-century contribution to a bygone era doesn’t add or do anything different that makes it stand out. The restaurant, a full-service casual bistro, offers shoppers of Nordstrom department store a chance to grab a bite to eat without leaving the actual property. The menu has the expected items as well as locally sourced specialty entres, wine list and even cocktails. One of the major selling points is a rooftop patio which makes for a unique dining experience as these types of places are limited in downtown Ottawa. The prices reflect the store and location, while the service is good. The food itself is enjoyable, but as I mentioned, it doesn’t do anything to truly stand out from your expected bistro inspired restaurant.
Bazille is tucked away in the corner on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom. Just like everything else in Nordstrom, it’s high quality food for jacked up prices. It’s a great place to enjoy fruity cocktails, which are priced around $12+. The food is quite good, but, again, overpriced for what it is. Service was a bit on the inattentive side and didn’t wow or amaze me in any way. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying more items, but I’m not in love with this place, at least not yet.
This food was amazing! It came really fast too. I highly recommend it. We were very hungry after flying for a while. Good for after a flight.
Had lunch and I was impress. Excellent service and fast. The food was very tasty. The place is clean in a nice modern decor. Onion soup very good and club very tasty with the fries and the little very tasty mayonnaise . No comment on the wine selection didn’t have any for lunch.
We love eating in Nordstrom’s, the food is always good and this was no exception. Thankfully we had reservations at noon on a Friday because it was very busy. We both ordered salads off the menu and they came quickly. I had the pear with blue cheese. I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side, surprisingly it was nice and light. There was a bit too much cheese for my liking but otherwise it was very good.
My friend and I were excited to try the food here seeing how nice the restaurant looked. However, the food and service left a lot to be desired. We shared the crab bisque, steak poutine, and one of the pizzas. Surprisingly, we only enjoyed the crab bisque. The other two dishes were so salty that it completely ruined the food since all we could taste was salt. The service was poor; we came in during a slow evening yet we had to flag the server down for water refills and they never checked up on us. Whenever they came to our table they took the empty plates without asking us anything. I don’t have high expectations whenever I eat out, but I was expecting the typical warm service I receive when I visit any restaurant. Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back.
