Exceeded my expectations. It’s hard to find good delivery food in Ottawa. This is the first time I’ve ordered and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. I look forward to trying Champa Thai again and hope it becomes my favorite Thai delivery here in Ottawa.
How Champa Thai lost my business. We’ve been ordering from Champa Thai for a few years now. Not often, but every few months when we have a craving for Thai food and are feeling a bit lazy, Champa was always a good option. The food is pretty good and the price is decent.Last night we ordered ordered our food at 6:10 and were told that the *approximate* delivery time would be 7:10pm. We were okay with waiting an hour – after all it was a Friday night and they were likely busy. 7:30 rolled around and no word. I called to check up on the food and the woman on the phone said that they were in fact busy and that my food was ready in the restaurant, and her driver was on his way back from another delivery to come pick it up and bring it to me.8:15 rolls around. We’ve now been waiting two hours – an hour longer than promise – and nothing. I called back 4 times and got no answer. On my 5th attempt, the woman was flustered and annoyed. I get it, you’re busy. I told her that I wouldn’t have ordered the food if (A) I knew it would take 2.5 hours and (B) I knew that the food would sit in the restaurant for an hour and a half before getting it. She told me she couldn’t cancel the order. I was fine with that. I wanted my food – but I didn’t want to pay for food that was old and late. She told me to have the driver call me when he arrived.8:40 – the driver arrives and he calls her, as per her suggestion. She seems to give him a hard time on the phone (the poor guy is their only driver – he looks dejected and upset). He tell me that she’ll give me a $5 discount, that’s it. Seriously? $5? After we waiting 2 and a half hours for this food – an hour and half longer than promised? I don’t think so.Champa just lost us as customers – why would we ever want to order from them again? For now, I’m looking for a new Thai takeout place in Ottawa.
Good sized portions, quick service, decent selection.. I really like this restaurant. I have never eaten in the restaurant itself and always pick up the take-out directly, so don’t know about delivery service. Each time, they offer good quality meals that taste home-cooked. Some dishes are better than others — personal favourites include the green curry, eggplant, and tom kha soup. Recommended! A few dishes will last more than one meal, and it’s a pleasure to watch the ladies pull the dishes together with fresh ingredients.
Excellent restaurant. This is one of the best restaurant during my visit to Ottawa. I was surfing around web and found this restaurant. Initially hesitant but wanted to taste as I like Thai food. I went in around 1:00 PM. They do have sit in place but I have not seen any one. Still they offered to prepare food. So nice of her. I ordered rice noodles with chicken. I am from Boston area. I told her how it tastes and after 15 minutes food is ready. Taste exactly same and really nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and would recommend to anyone who would like to taste spicy food.
Best Thai food in Ottawa, wish they had an actually sit down restaurant.
Had to cancel the order. Placed an order for delivery and after an hour called them back they told me it would be another 30 minutes. They blamed the weather but I live 10 minutes from them. It sounded like the food wasn’t even made yet. How long does it take to make 2 Pad Thai’s.
Best pad thai!. Absolutely the best chicken and beef pad thai I’ve ever had!!!
