After attending the National Gallery my husband and friends of ours wanted to have some lunch nearby and went to the Earl of Sussex pub. After being directed to their disabled access ramp at the rear of the building we proceeded up the ramp as I am in a wheelchair. Half way up the ramp we were met by a staff member who told us that we should not continue as we could not be accommodated. All the tables on the main floor are meant for standing only and do not accommodate people in wheelchairs. The only tables where people could sit are located upstairs. The way we were treated felt like we should not bother coming nor ever some back again. I do not blame the staff member sent to deliver the message but, the management policy and the manner in which it is conveyed left a very bad taste. The Earl of Sussex pub should seriously look at their policy concerning the treatment of disabled patrons.
Horrible food. DO NOT order the cobb salad. It is the most sad looking salad I’ve ever seen. I think they boiled the chicken – it had absolutely no taste. Very over priced as well, would avoid at all cost. Lost of better options available in the market!
