We enjoyed a yummy lamb curry for lunch, followed up with chai tea. Delicious and comforting on a rainy November Saturday. We will be back again. Thank you!

Worst place I’ve been to. The staff is literally horrible and the food is very average. There is a lot of choice in Ottawa and I would recommend any other indian restaurant.

Hi. I am often Downtown to Shop and or just walk around and take in the Sights, sounds and smells. I usually park in the Market Square. There are PLENTY of Restaurants right around there INSIDE and outside. For anyone who DOESN’T know the Beaver Tail place is rightttt around there on the Corner. Anyways OK so, my Sincere Review, the Date is Jan 25th 2017 for anyone wondering. I decided to try the Food @ the India Cafe the place with the BIG Yellow sign with the words INDIA CAFE in Red. The Food was Really Good. I have eaten@ many Indian places in my Life. I have also eaten at many different Indian ppl’s homes. I found the Food here@ Indian Cafe was just as good as any of those places. As far as the FOOD goes…I would definitely go back and HAVE been back about 5 times since. The Prices in Comparison with other Indian Restaurants around Ottawa are Average I would say. They COULD be a bit Cheaper. I used to get Indian Food almost everyyyy day when I lived in B.C. . I would get Chicken Curry AND Butter Chicken both. For $5/each = so $10 in total. Here@ INDIA CAFE the price was about $13 for the Butter Chicken and $13 for the Chicken Curry. I was spending about $26 for Dinner. Not terrible, but could be cheaper. OK – Now I will comment on the *Service*. The Service from the first time I went there, I’m not going to say it was Terrible. But Honestly the ppl weren’t very Polite, friendly and or welcoming. Like most Indian ppl are. When I went to PAY for my Meals using the Hand held Debit machine there was a bunch of Food that had been spilled on it. I just pointed it out and mentioned it to the Older Man behind the counter who had served me. ** THIS IS HOW HE RESPONDED. He responded by telling me there was NO FOOD on the machine and that it was completely clean. I said NOOO look there’s a bunch of Food here lol. I said can you please wipe it off before I use the Machine? He said NO, LOOK I already told you there is no Food. I said yes you did and I heard you perfectly. But you’re wrong. Can you not seeeee the Food on the machine?! I don’t want to put my hand in that. I said LOOK, if you don’t want to WIPE it off that’s ok. Can you please just give me a Napkin, i will wipe it off? I don’t think the next Customer wants to put their hand in someone else’s food and or dirt either. He just stared at me Angrily. I said may I PLEASEEEE have a Napkin to wipe off the Food, that’s all I want to do. He said, Quote; ”You want Wiping off the Machine here.” He took a Napkin himself and Wiped the bottom of the Machine where the Dirt and or Food was that I had ALREADY Mistakenly put my hand in. It was/is a WHITE Napkin and after he had finished he said THERE, NO DIRT NOW…CLEAN. I said ok WAIT please, can I SEE the Napkin? He showed me the Napkin, I said can I hold it? He gave it to me. I said HERE LOOK! Can you see, this is the Dirt and or Food that was on the Machine that you just Wiped off. So…THANK YOU SIR! I understand sometimes you may get food on your Hands while serving Customers. THAT’S OKAAAAAAY SIR! Its completely understandable. 🙂 But please EVEN AFTER I showed you the Machine and the Food on it, you told me I was WRONG and that there WAS NO FOOD ON IT. Can you see now that THERE WAS In Fact food on it? He didn’t say anything. I said look man, its not a big deal, I appreciate you wiping it off thanks. He said, OK you going to pay or you want leave? I said, I’mmmm going to pay now. He said OK PAY and go. I said, you know you’re a little bit Rude eh. He said no, you give me a hard time. I said, I didn’t give you a hard time at all. I just pointed out some Food left on the Machine. Probably by Accident. I pointed it out to be HELP FULL. I don’t know why you don’t perceive it that way. He said OK, I don’t want to hear anymore. I said wow, you ARE QUITE RUDE. I will continue my Review in another comment this is getting Fairly long. But I think ppl deserve and have a right to know.

I know Indian food, having lived in Delhi for over 26 years of my life. I don’t know how this place calls itself Indian or even food. I requested that the chicken roll be prepared spicy and they added hot sauce. Sigh. The Samosa was stale and flavorless. Do your taste buds a huge favor and skip this hole. This is not how Indian food is made.

Visited India Cafe for lunch a few weeks ago, and ordered the Butter Chicken plate. Unfortunately, the quality of the meal was lower than what I had initially expected, but the portion was generous for the price.

I stopped by on a whim. I was surprised when they said they didn’t have specific dishes available but apparently it’s to keep the food fresh which I can understand. It was evident that this was in fact the case. The food was fantastic and the portions were massive. The meals were spilling over the edge of the plate and the service was friendly. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Don’t let the prices turn you away, you get more than you pay for with the quality of the ingredients.

Let’s go to that little Indian cafe. Not a huge selection of dishes await you in the heating trays but there are always a few delicious vegetarian options. Never been disappointed especially considering the price here versus other meal options in the market. Nothing fancy but you’ll leave full!
