Best sandwich place I’ve been to.That may be a slight exaggeration, but it is that good. They just make their sandwiches so well. The cheese, the toppings. And their ketchup is the best I’ve had. I really like the tangy salsa-like one. And of course, I always wash it down with their cherry Coke Zero. I recommend the chicken or beef based sandwiches, and for you vegetarians, the meatless options are also pretty good. I always go whenever I’m at Rideau or even in the byward market. I’ll be the first to admit that it can get pretty pricey, but like I mentioned in my review on Hintonburger, it strikes the right price-size-taste balance.

In part we thought for the price of $14 for drink +sandwich it would be bigger slices of bread and would be filling. We both decided we would not be coming back and most probably could make them at home.

I went to MLT DWN a few weeks ago before a summer course at UOttawa. I wasnt very impressed with the service. The girls at the register looked annoyed that I had interrupted their gossiping which was an uncomfortable feeling for me. I ordered the Mac and cheese grilled cheese with some of the fries. While the order took pretty long, I still enjoyed the sandwich. The crust was crispy while the interior was gooey and hot. I couldnt taste the old cheddar and the taste got a bit boring after a few bites. Perhaps some hot sauce would help? The fries were pipping hot and salted perfectly. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, just dont go if you are in a hurry.
Went once, had the pulled pork, very disappointed. It was drenched in BBQ sauce, soggy, couldn’t taste anything else. Plus it’s really expensive, probably not returning.
Waffle fries!. The typical price for the Rideau center food court is about $10. This place is the exception. For a regular combo be expected to pay $15-20 +tax. Another exception for this place is their uniqueness, for regular fries, they replace that with waffle fries. For a drink, they offer more indie sodas and their grilled cheese sandwich they serve a variety of different combinations.Is it really worth it? I personally don’t think it’s worth the $8-10 for a typical grilled cheese. But the waffle fries has a new taste, and they have a number of different kinds of breads and cheese that would be interesting to try.
COLD GRILL CHEESE?. Do not order the lobster grill cheese. I’m not sure which was worse, the combination of ingredients or the fact that it was cold. I had heard great things and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive however this was very disappointing. Plus the lobster is a 14$ sandwich!
