We decided to stop by today for a midday treat and coffee. I took the peanut butter and oat bar with a medium roast coffee. My mother took a medium roast coffee with a slice of their coffee cake. Both desserts were super tasty and fresh. The medium roast coffee was wondeful, smooth and not bitter. Highly recommend and I will definitely return.
The coffee is not impressive. Sometimes it tastes burnt. You would think that a place specializing in coffee could get it right sometimes. I don’t think the baristas know how to make a proper espresso either…
The fact that this place accepts cash only completely turns me off. It was my first visit. I asked for a flat white but was told that it’s cash only, so I left without hesitation. It’s 2016, so get with the program!
One of my favorite coffeeshops in Ottawa! The cakes are great and my favorite drink in the summer is the iced chai latte. The patio in the summer is also a great place to enjoy some tranquility and read a book in the heart of the city. hangsfoodbook.wordpress.com
The food and coffee at planet coffee are amazing! They don’t accept visa or have wifi but it’s ok because the environment is great and all the food is delicious. I live just a block away from Planet Coffee so I have been going there for quite some time. The staff are very friendly and I have always loved going to Planet Coffee… until today. I am a student and have loved going to planet coffee to study, however today I had the unfortunate experience of being told by the manager to move to make room for new customers. I am not sure if it is because I am a student or because I look young but the manager did not ask any of the other patrons to move. My friend and I had spent maybe $30 during our time there buying coffees and lunch… I felt so disrespected that I left immediately and will never return to Coffee Planet again. I truly did feel discriminated against – and had such an unpleasant experience that I felt the need to write a review (for the sole purpose of the owner/manager to read this so that she doesn’t make the mistake of making loyal customers feel this way again).
Surly staff and runs as a cash only operation. And why yes of course they have a gypsy ATM on site that charges absurd fees. Will not be back.
This place needs a real renovation. Ventilation is awful, always there is a smell of kitchen. The dusty ventilation shaft is right up the table where all cookies, cakes,etc.. are prepared, so you eat a little bit dust. The tables, chairs… all of them are very old. The floors and the carpet are always dirty.Why do they accept only cash? No receipt no tax…The foods are quite expensive and often burnt.This place use the advantage of poor Ottowa because there is not a lot of choice to go except coffee franchaiseslike Starbucks, Bridge Head.
