Met up with some friends on the patio in the afternoon. I was disappointed to only have a few options to order from off of the bar bites menu, but the food did not disappoint. My husband and I shared the polenta fries, truffle fries, and smoked meat crustini. The truffle fries came with a delicious creamy dip, while the polenta friends came with a more refreshing dip – both were excellent. The polenta fries were crispy and had a creamy flavour, while the truffle fries had a great truffle taste. The smoked meat crustini came with 3 servings, with a light Dijon and sauerkraut topping. Good drink selection. Comparable prices. Good service. Excellent patio! We will return!
I went here for a work event a few weeks ago, the servers were very friendly and attentive to our group. The food was also really good, I had the pea soup and the duck confit. The ambience was also very elegant, it was definitely a great place to have work social.
In the past month, Social has seem to be my go-to spot. It’s a great setting to be well…SOCIAL. Their new renovationswill shock you; in a good way, of course! The new feel of the restaurant is more modern and fun; which makes the atmosphere feel less fine dining and more casual. My most recent visit to Social, was last week. As a group of 16 we dined in their private dining section with an exclusive menu designed just for us. Our menu included two courses, both with options to choose from:First Course: Baby Gem Lettuce, Caesar, White Anchovy or English Pea Soup, Crme FracheMain Course: Burger, Double Smoked Bacon & Cheddar or Duck Confit, Schmaltz Potatoes, Onion, Triple Creamed Brie or Lois-Lake Steelhead Trout , Courgette, Peas, Feta, Tomato or Orecetti Primavera, Asparagus, Rapini, Chili, Garlic, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Parmesan I thought I wouldnt have liked the anchovies on my salad, but it paired really nicely with the dressing. While the duck did not disappoint. For someone who rarely eats duck, to me it was cooked perfectly. The meat was nice and tender and together with the potatoes and brie my stomach couldnt have been happier. Dinner was a success. From the atmosphere to the service and food, Social turned a regular Wednesday night into a great space for a bunch of foodies to socialize.#social #bywardmarket #dinner #throwbackthursday
I was here for a work social, and think it was great! The downstairs room had an awesome wine wall and exposed brick for the others. Really enjoyed the ambience. The food was also great! The presentation of the salad was different, but it tasted good. The pasta was also nice! Would recommend to friends for a more expensive date/dinner.
I recently went to social with my work group. We were given a private room that was beautifully decorated as is the rest of the establishment. In our room one whole wall was the wine glass case – it really set the ambiance of a fine dining experience. Our service was impeccable; our food came out hot fresh and tasty and whenever our drinks were low someone was always there to make sure we were taken care of. I ordered the Primavera that I devoured in about 5 minutes – took a few harty bites from my coworkers food as well (the duck and fish) which were amazing. Definitely going back for a fancy girls night or a romantic date as the ambiance and food are to die for.
I recently dined here for the first time with a group of 15 colleagues and after hearing positive reviews for years, SOCIAL has definitely lived up to my expectations. Flirty and classy decor, intimate setting, tasty modern cuisine, and attentive serving style. Go here if you’re in the mood for an upscale date night, or book one of the private boardrooms for a work function. To start I had a caesar salad with romain hearts and fresh anchovy, and for my entree I took the pan-seared Steelhead trout with heirloom tomato, summer squash and pea pure. Everything tasted AMAZING, the presentation was playful and super pretty to look at, and the food did not take long to arrive. Verdict: I would 100% come back here.
Bland and too small of a portion (go for drinks not a meal). Went there for Valentines day, a day where restaurants should give it their best, and was utterly disapointed. The only good thing I found was the service and the wine. I think I would recommend this place more for drinks than to get an actual meal. I am not a cook and I can make food that has more style and spank than that.My girlfriend had squash gnochis that were pan fried… sounds good eh? Actually, I could not for the life of me taste the squash, secondly the seasoning was MISSING, I mean, there was a bit of cheese? Very bland… plus do not expect to have much… the portions are small, EVEN for a fancy restaurant. For myself, I had the truite on a bed of mussels and vegetables… The smallest piece of fish… which was missing seasoning…, and there was barely any vegetables, so basically 5 pieces of mussels and a couple cubes of vegetables. Choices of deserts very limited… and did not look very appealing…I think it has potential, but much work to be done to better the menu.
