So this is my first place that I went out in Ottawa and trust me on this its totally worth it.I was along with a friend and we ordered tons of stuff. To start with,we went for a pitcher of premium beer along with a huge pizza for both of us.The pizza was great,I mean I am still salivating thinking of it.First finishing the pitcher we ordered for another Belgium premium and alongside it ordered a calamari. The calamari was amazing as well. Most important part about the place is the music and the ambience that they have. Now,you must be thinking why 4 stars then? Well I feel its a lil pricey. All of this came for 106 bucks plus tip.Anyway,I had a good time and hope you guys have it too.
In a previous incarnation, the restaurant at occupied the spot was nothing more than a tourist trap. Now while still frequented by tourists The Grand appeals to both locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is much more modern with a rustic flair and offers a wide variety of pizza and Italian inspired dishes. The staff is very accommodating and they make you feel welcome regardless of if you live down the street or are just in town on a visit. The food itself is above average when it comes to what one might expect from a heavily tourist populated area. even if you’re not in the mood for pizza, there are plenty of things that will satisfy on the menu.
An amazing dining experience celebrating my twins birthday on June 16/17. The food was so good, staff went above and beyond and were fun and professional. Patio was perfect. A perfect end to a wonderful vacation in your City! Thank you to the Manager and our server who helped make our evening so enjoyable. It was appreciated!
Just love their pizza’s here. Everything is so fresh and one of the best in Ottawa! Definitely recommend this place. We had a birthday here and the service was really good and so was the food.
The calamari was good – lightly battered and crispy on the outside and nicely cooked on the inside. The pizza was decent as well, with the crust being a key reason for my taste-buds approval. The Zingara pizza = good. The mushroom white pizza = not so good. It was a little too expensive though for a casual style restaurant.
When I think of pizza in Ottawa, I think of Robertos or Anthonys. I had heard of the pizza at The Grand over the years but was never attracted to it because its located in the most touristic section of the Market and in my experience, that can be hit or miss. The Keg is a good example. I dont like The Keg in Ottawa but in other cities, The Keg is decent. That being said, I finally decided to give the pizza at The Grand a try. The restaurant itself is fairly large which Im never a fan of. I find the larger a restaurant is, the more of a miss it tends to be but I dont want to generalize. My waiter was not very knowledgeable when it came to recommending a pizza. He pretty much recommended all of them which was not much help to me. I ordered a pizza with prosciutto and arugula as the primary ingredients and my companion had a burger. In terms of appearance, the pizza was beautiful to look at. However, it was very difficult to eat. The knife that was provided did not do a good job of cutting my pizza into pieces, resulting in a big mess. I tried to eat with my hands at first but the abundant arugula and long thick cut prosciutto made it very challenging to take clean bites from the pizza. I had arugula and pieces of prosciutto falling out of my mouth or getting stuck on my teeth at every bit.Overall, the pizza was very attractive but awkward to eat without making a huge mess. Taste wise, it was okay but nothing special. I will take the off menu rappini and sausage pizza at Robertos any day over this one.My companions burger was very tasty. I had a few bites. The oversized lettuce leaf in the burger was kind of pointless and awkward but the meat itself was delish. The fries were decent. In summary, it was decent but not enough to make The Grand a regular pit stop moving forward. The burger was far more satisfying than my pizza. For that price range, there are far better options available.
Ordered through Uber Eats. I tried their meatlovers pizza and calamari. The delivery was about 15 minutes later than estimated, but I believe that is the driver’s fault, and not the restaurant’s. The food arrived cold, but was in one of he thermal bags, so not sure if he picked it up amd it was already cold, or of he just took so long it got cold. Either way I had to reheat it, because it was colder than room temperature. The calamari was okay, though it found it salty. There wasn’t nearly enough dip. For the price, and as you can see from the photo, they only filled about half the container, which felt like a rip off. The other half was just greasy arugula. The pizza I found they were skimpy on the toppings. There was maybe half a piece of pepperoni on or whatever other topping on each slice. The prosciutto was added after it was cooked, which felt like the poor choice. The cheese didn’t go all the way to the crust. $18 for a pizza with 4 slices that arrived cold and was sub par was incredibly disappointing and overpriced.I would definitely not order from them again, or go back, now would I ever recommend this place to someone else.
