Been here a number of times, but usually just for drinks. Service has always been pretty good. Nice atmosphere. They often have live music, sometimes it has been good, sometimes it has been so bad I’ve had to just leave.A friend and I tried their haggis, since neither of us had tried any before. I can’t speak on the authenticity, or of haggis as a whole since I have no frame of reference, but it wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t get it again though, as it basically just tasted like boiled ground beef seasoned with copious amount of black pepper.I have tried a few of their other dishes, and it is basically just standard pub fare, nothing noteworthy.
Worst Food I Have Ever Eaten. I sent back my food after 1 bite it was THAT awful. (First time I have ever done this). Hubby did not because he was famished even though halfway through his insanely bland meal he found pieces of paper ?!?!?!?! in his dish. (Most likely it was stuck to something prior to being cooked and ended up on the plate). Save yourself the trouble of stopping in here unless all you want is a drink. Horrible food. Just horrible. The worst I’ve ever had anywhere. Ever.
Cool pub – but too much touristic features. Great place, central but how so typical. Nothing really extraordinary – fast service, good typical pub food, etc. Enjoy your night!
Just bar food with a theme.. My wife and I were in town on a rainy night and this was close to the hotel. Very heavy on the Scottish theme, but otherwise completely unremarkable food and service. We did much better the next night at Vittoria Trattoria, a really nice spot just a couple of blocks up William Street.
It’s a disappointment to Scottish people. The service was awful. We were moved to table that wind and snow would blow on the food everytime the door swung open. Our waitress kept on calling everyone ‘friend’. No friend of mine would have sat me there and then ignored me. The food was awful. Subpar. Disgusting.
I would not go to any pub that can’t spell half the items on the menu:-(
