Typical bar food, small town sports bar vibe. Ottawa needs more places like these and less generic sports bars like boston pizza. Had a burger and beer and was happy with it.
This is my favourite spot to watch a game in Ottawa. Not as busy or overpriced as Real Sports. As a Jays fan, I love the fact that they play all the Jays games and many of the patrons are regulars and true blue fans. The food is decent for pub fare and the prices are modest. My only complaint is that it’s a little small and the set-up is not conducive to large crowds which can make watching a big game problematic if the place gets busy. I suggest coming in early if there’s a hot game on.

Perfect Lunch. My husband, I, and our friends stopped in for a quick lunch on our way home from Mont-Tremblant. After having left the first pub we stopped in at after being greeted by a waitress who told us how hungover she was, it was a relief to be greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic bartended who welcomed us warmly. Each of us had a different type of burger, and all were delicious! Portions were generous, fresh fries, and amazing service! We could not have asked for anything better. Thanks for the great experience, we will make the trip back just to come to The Senate Sports Tavern again!
Beware of False Advertising. We were drawn into this place by a sign in front of the restaurant advertising 1/2 price nachos during the Canada world junior hockey game. We went in and ordered the nachos and drinks. When the bill came it had the nachos for full price (14+ tax). When we asked about the 1/2 price nachos the waitress told us that the owner changed his mind, but when we left the sign was still out front advertising 1/2 price nachos. Disappointing that they use this type of false advertising to lure people. Beware.
Why Ottawa Why?!?!. I use to like the Senate when it first opened but I have seen nothing but a sharp decline since. Cheap quality food that is overpriced. Beer regular box restaurant selection. I read lots of positive reviews and wonder why? It is a sports bar so I assume most customers are not there not to eat well or dont even know what good food is. Service terrible!
I moved to Ottawa about a year ago and live close to the market. I regret not finding this place sooner. I’ve visited a lot of the pubs in the area and this one is at the top of my list. The decor is warm and inviting, the service is incredible and the food is much much much better than the standard pub fair. You can tell they take pride in their menu. The coca cola candied ribs are a must try. Can’t wait to take a crack at the turducken !! Will be giving them all my business going forward
