2019/04/03This dinner was mostly about catching up with old friends. They suggested getting together at Vittoria Trattoria at Byward Market, which was great for me, since I had not been there before. I started out with a 5 oz glass of the Shiraz ($9), and then moved on to a Caesar Salad ($10). The salad was nicely done; fresh romaine, creamy dressing, grated parmesan cheese, and crispy croutons. Nothing special, but good. For my main dish I selected Chicken Parmigiana ($26) from the Secondi menu. I would have preferred a bit less breading, but the flavours were good. It was topped with a zesty tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. Perhaps a bit overdone around the edges. The chicken was served on a bed fettuccine with a creamy pesto sauce. Nice noodles. Service was pretty good, except for one problem. I had taken only two sips of my wine, and I accidentally spilled the rest. After a bit of cleanup, we asked for a refill. When I got my bill, they charged me for two full glasses, which I dont think is right.
