First night of a stay. Ate here as the weather is gross and it looked appealing from the design/decor. Ordered a tomato juice and a house red along with a Cobb salad. Was told that they were out of tomato juice and the house red arrived soon after. Acceptable house red. Cobb salad arrived announced as a Cesar. Corrected to a Cobb on questioning. Food was edible but it was a form of a Cobb salad. A Cobb salad is a separated salad that enables you to choose how to mix the various flavours on the plate. What I received was an edible mess covered in a heavy dressing of which far too much had been used. About five minutes later some bread arrived which did lift my spirits momentarily until I discovered the butter was frozen. One slice or two? At no time after the main was delivered did anyone come and ask how it was, drinks service was sketchy to say the least with waits of 5 and 14 minutes between visits after drinks were consumed which in a restaurant with five other people in is shocking. I look forward to the restaurant manager calling me as directed to on the bill so I can explain why there was no tip personally. The saddest part of this review is that I am meeting colleagues here tomorrow and may have to suffer this again. Disappointing. I gave a rating of 2 based upon the house red being palatable.
