2019/03/09After a day out we were in the mood for some Hakka for dinner, and we found Golden China. It is a medium sized restaurant with seating for about 50. It was mostly empty when we arrived at 7 pm, but a few more tables filled up as we had our meal. We started out with a small Chicken Hot & Sour Soup ($4.25), which was enough for both of us to have an individual bowlful. It was less vinegary than most that we have had, and had a pleasant smoky taste. Our first dish was Kung Pao Chicken ($9.75). Tender chunks of chicken in a savoury sauce with a bit of peppery heat. Our second dish was the Crispy Beef ($11.00). Thinly sliced beef, probably with a dusting of flour or starch and then stir fried to get a bit of caramelization on each piece for that tasty, crispy chew. Both dishes came with rice. Also, the portions were large enough that we took a quarter of the meal home for leftovers. So altogether a pretty good value for a sit down meal.
