This place is a korean staple. I always get the dumpling soup!! Their dumplings are all made in house are are huge!!! And super delicious!! I can barely finish 4! This place is famous for their kimchi and they make it so good!! That is the one and only side dish that comes out and trust me if you love kimchi you will fall in love. Be careful, your breath will be atrocious for the remainder of the day!
We checked out what other tables were having and decided we werent up to cooking (shabu shabu) so we opted for dumplings and noodle soup. Some of the servers understood English but it was limited, so pictures on the menu did help a lot. Instead of the usual ban chan with kimchi and beansprouts, they served the most delicious kimchi Ive ever had– in a pot. It was sweet and spicy and had me reaching for my tissue with sniffles. I loved it! We ordered handmade noodles prepared in a few ways. I shared with DD#2 the regular Myungdong Mandoogok soup while Grandma had this same one with mixed dumpling and rice cake. Hubby shared with DD#1 noodles with hot spice. He claims it is the spiciest soup he has ever had in his lifeand we both have had some very spicy Thai food in Bangkok!Needless to say, DD#1 could not finish her meal and opted to eat more of the other dish we orderedthe Myungdong king-sized dumpling. The dumplings came in a steamer container. They were about the size of a small fist and were packed with meat and leek. They were perfect with the sweet-sour soy sauce mix. Dont ask me how many I had! If you havent tried Korean-style dumplings, this is a great place to try it out! wanderlustingmama.blogspot.com
We will not eat in this restaurant again for the following reasons:1) BAD varieties: few hot-pot choices (minimum $15.99×2), one kind of dumpling ($9.99 for 6 dumplings) & 4 kinds of noodles (the cheapest is $8.99 for basically just a bowl of plain noodle in soup v.v ). 2) NO appetizer except KIMCHI (and remember…even though they give you a good size of container of it but I COMPLETELY believe that they will re-serve the left-over Kimchi from table to table!!! EWWWWW!!!!!!! 3) OVER-PRICE: A bowl of plain boodle costs the minimum $8.99 and up…and again, technically….a bowl of plain noodle in soup. Besides, All the listed hotpot prices are for 1 person-serving and you have to order minimum 2 orders …..or stuck with their plain noodle in soup!!!!!!!My family and I had a very bad experience with this restaurant and will not visit again. I have to say….this is so far the worst Korean restaurant I have ever had in Toronto in the past twenty plus years I have been here.
Good food but terrible service. My mom and I were standing by the door for 10 minutes waiting for someone to seat us when there were two tables available. We were trying to catch the servers attention but they would just look at us and look away until we finally walked over to one and told her we were waiting for a table. At this point I was very annoyed. We both ordered manduguk (dumpling soup) which came out fast and tasted great. After we finished, we ordered a set of dumplings for take out and paid for the bill. It was taking a while for the dumplings to come out so we called down a server to see if it was ready and they finally brought it out. When we were getting up to leave, the server was questioning whether we paid or not and we told her we did. With hesitation, the server quickly walked over to the counter to check with the man dealing with the bills. They clearly don’t know how to serve or manage this restaurant. If anything, she should have checked at the front to make sure everything was paid for before giving us the dumplings, rather than questioning us if we paid or not. Very unprofessional and rude.I’m not sure if I would go back after this experience because their service totally turned me off and this definitely wasn’t their first time giving me crappy service, with this being the worst. They need to work on their management and teach their workers some manners. foodieelove.com
Very authentic and delicious soup. The meat dumplings are huge and tasty. You get a big clay bowl of kimchi. The portions are a good size and we slurped every drop of soup.
This is an update since my last visit more than 5 years ago!Came here for lunch and ordered Shabu Shabu for 2 @$11.99 each. Portion though smallish if you are a big eater but everything was fresh and delicious.Love the Jar of Kimchi which is super garlicky but quite addictive.Service was efficient.I will come back have some of those giant dumplings next time!
worst dinning experience, avoid if possible! lots of MSG, plus the waitress cannot even speak English!!! its definitely pricey for what you get. The cheapest noodle on the menu is 8 dollars and does not have any meat… litterally taste like a premium instant noodle.
