If I can leave zero stars, I will leave zero stars. I usually never leave reviews for restaurants let alone a restaurant I haven’t even eaten in. I just had the most mortifying and embarrassed experience in my life ever today and will not be coming to this restaurant ever again. I was going to meet my friend there for dinner today. I walked in as would any other restaurant, told the server I need a table for two. The guy never asked me or told me anything and pointed me to a table for two. I sat down since I was a bit early I looked at the menu and then started to look at my phone while I waited for my friend. Then the server looked at me and asked where my friend is, I told him she’s coming. Only at that point he mentioned that they don’t sit people down until the whole party is here. He never mentioned it when he sat me down. So as luck would have it my friend was late so I decided I would order first. The server won’t even let me order!!! I said if my friend is not coming and I’m eating alone you will still give me the same table, which is true they do not have tables for one. The server I insisted not to take my order and said some illogical thing about if my friend comes it will take us longer to eat. There isn’t any sign restricting how long you can stay and eat there at all. Sure enough a couple came through the door and they kicked me out of my table where I had already been sitting to give that table to that couple. I have never been treated worse ever at a restaurant. I ended up storming out and when my friend came we went somewhere else. Don’t ever come here to eat if you want to be treated like a decent human being! You can get better customer service eating at a food court than eating here.
Papa Chang’s has one of the best popcorn chicken I’ve ever had and after I knew that they had opened a second location on the top floor of Pacific Mall as an express eatery, I had always kept it in the back of my mind to go visit.When I arrived at the express eatery, they were just opening for business. It was just before 11 a.m. on a holiday. Luckily for me, the man behind the counter agreed to sell me a serving of their popcorn chicken even though their cashier staff hadn’t arrived yet. (I had waited a few minutes already.)
OK food, as a Taiwanese, the food is not that authentic, plenty of dishes were over salted, there are better choice else where. But it is cheap.
I think the best thing this little place has going for them are their crazy affordable prices. Food quality is average and selection is small. It is also always crowded, and due to the small space, they make you wait outside. I find their food either too oily or underwhelming in flavour. But for their prices and atmosphere, I would return for a third time.
You are never going to believe what happened to me the couple of times I visited this place. Their service and food were always good and I have taken visitors to Canada there too. The last time I ordered take out, the guy took my order, I ordered 2 rice meals, 3 snacks and they are all for different people, he even repeated it to me, when I got home, I’ve only got 2 rice meals and 1 snack so someone had no dinner that night. Today is even worse, I called to place my order at 5:40 pm – 2 sausage and minced pork rice, 1 popcorn chicken bento box, and 2 snacks. They said it will be ready in 15 mins, so I told them I can only get there in half hour. They said they would put it in a bit later so that the food won’t be bad when pickup. Hung up the phone and I called right back within the minute to add another popcorn chicken bento box, another female pickup the phone, she repeated my order and I said to add one more (note, this whole conversation was in chinese so she should understand), when I went to pick up at 6:05pm , the added one was not there and they just put it in. Took them another 15 mins to cook that one so by the time I got it, the previous order is soft. I was upset and told them that I did call back and instead of apologizing, they looked me in the face and said nothing. I cannot believe they did not offer to remake the first popcorn chicken bento box. So now I am home and I had to throw away the first one because it is AS HARD AS ROCK. No dinner for me and I had to pay for it. NEW RENOVATIONS IS NOT TURNING OUT TO BE GOOD FOR THEM, MAYBE THEY SHOULD CHANGE THE DARN PEOPLE THAT WORKS THERE AND HIRE SOME COMPETENT PEOPLE. While I was there, a gentleman keep telling one of the ladies 1968 and she kept going to the back and translate and look for 1969 order, she came again and ask the guy and he still told her 1968 and she repeated in chinese to her colleague 1969. This shows how INCOMPETENT THEY ARE.Don’t go there unless you want to be upset like me. They renovated but gave VERY POOR SERVICE NOW.
Loved this place. Been there frequently. The price was good. Lots of snacks, fish sticks and popcorn chicken are especially good. Usually order the bento box or the mince meat with rice. Only problem is that the space is very small, there are always long line up. So just order take out when there’s a line up.
