2018/07/19We were in Midland visiting relatives, and six of us had dinner reservations at Moms. It was fairly full, so the reservation was a good idea. The restaurant is spacious, the decor has lots of wood and is comfortable and casual, and the staff are very friendly. Most of us started out with a trip to the salad bar, which was included with all of the dinner meals. It was a basic salad bar, with torn up head lettuce, and about a dozen typical sliced and chopped fresh veggies to add on top. They also had some pickled beets that were pretty good. SWMBO chose the BBQ Chicken Breast. What she got was an overcooked piece of grilled chicken that was slathered with BBQ sauce. Not her favourite meal. I ordered the Salmon, which was a 6 oz loin, baked with herbs and spices. I also substituted the potatoes for extra veggies. The salmon was nicely cooked all the way through, but not overdone. Nice meal. We were told that there pies were good, but most of them were sold out. They did have a few pieces of Lemon Meringue Pie. Three of us each got a generous slice, with a nice slab of lemon filling, topped high with light meringue. There were a couple of service issues that needed to be fixed, such as one wrong meal. Overall it was a pleasant meal with some mixed results.
Very Disappointing. Went for Breakfast on Pancake Tuesday. Waiter was not aware it was Pancake Tuesday nor was the Kitchen Staff.Ordered pancakes and received three large very dry and chaulky tasting pancakes made from, we are not sure what, with plastic packages of pancake syrup and butter on the side. The waiter had assured us when we ordered that it would be maple syrup. Not to be. We expressed our disappointment and paid the bill. A very disappointing Pancake Tuesday for us.
Mom’s Restaurant. I have been going to mom’s for breakfast for the last 5 years. All I have to say is the food and server’s at this place are awesome. I haven’t once been disappointed with anybody at this place. The food is alway’s fresh, drinks always cold, and the place is clean.
This was recommended to us for breakfast. Food tasted decent, excellent homemade gravy however it was definitely over priced for a breakfast. Service was good and the restaurant was impeccably clean.
Great food!
Plain and pricey. There isn’t much more then fast food chains in this neck of the woods so my father in law reccomended this place. You will like this restaurant if you or your fellow diners are into meat and potatoes fare. They have roast beef dinners and breakfast all day. The food is plain and entirely predictable but tasty. What I had a problem with was the prices. For five of us it was almost a hundred dollars with no alcohol and modest choices in drinks. Perhaps it is because they are the only game in town but I don’t like feeing ripped off no matter how crispy my peameal bacon is.
