Best fish and chips around. Amazing service. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try! I wouldn’t recommend ever getting fish and chips for takeout, it’s not a meal that is good cold or reheated, regardless of where it’s from. I will be back regularly!

Consistently good. This is not FINE DINING but for tasty fish and chips with fast, cheerful friendly service the Thistle has few equals. They have tried to augment the menu from time to time, but their very loyal customers return for nothing except the halibut and chips knowing just how delicious it will surely be. If you do feel like a change try the steak pie with gravy – I’m salivating at the thought. Don’t go for the decor or the ambience, concentrate on the freshly cooked food. There is take-out service but true fish and chip aficionados only seriously consider eating this delicacy if VERY freshly cooked. Thank goodness for Thistle.
Great Halibut, but the rest of the food…..blah. Recently did two take out orders in one month. Great halibut both times. The fries the first time we white, undercooked yet hot. Second time fries looked cooked, and were lukewarm and hard. Onion rings overcooked and coleslaw crispy but tasteless. When I ordered at the second takeout, I mentioned the under cooked fries and just received a stare in response. Anyway, I will miss the halibut, but not the inconsistently cooked food. Please improve, may try you in a year:)
Kind of disappointed. Thought it was going to be real good according to the reviews and asking the locals. The place was packed and everyone looked pleased but I found it to be nothing special. The fish was too greasy. Must be just me.
