Tasty but skimpy meal! Three of us went to celebrate a birthday. We were here before and enjoyed their food. But this time it was rather iffy. The ambiance is great. Lovely old building white table cloths, ok service. However the server did not bring bread and olive oil as at previous visits but took our order right away. No matter we thought she will bring it. But she never did just took out order then shortly served the food. We ordered the special which was scallops and salad, also a shrimp and salad and a lamb burger. With salad. The server never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. So we got water. The scallops dish included only two smallish sea scallops which were about 1.5 or max 2 inches each but th salad was fresh. There was no bread but a crostini ( a dried bread roll ). It cost around 17$. The shrimp and salad was tasty and included two large grilled shrimp almost scampi size. Great But the salad was also quite small. Around 16$. I asked for some bread and we got one smallish piece after about 5 Minutes. We then asked for some olive oil to dip it. This was really tasty. The lamb burger apparently was excellent. It also included a topping of chopped cooked onions and a topping perhaps with ricotta ? Yum. The two of us with seafood were still hungry after the meal. Very skimpy servings. We won’t go back.
Bland, boring and over-priced. Any meat served seems to be gray and greasy, unless drowned in tomato sauce that never saw an herb. The dessert was better. The service is uneven (went three times; at no time was it great).
Personal Service with Warmth. Love, love these people! Such a wonderful addition to the town of Almonte. The food is always fresh, the warmth and special attention to small details. From popular Italian dishes to accommadating diets for gluten free or dairy free, so grateful to have this special place here. Now with a quaint patio, I’ve even been privileged to have their expertise in catering a Christmas party for us. A must do if you are visiting Almonte. Highly recommend.
Delicious Gluten-Free Options!. I have eaten at Cafe Postinos several times and have always enjoyed it. I just ate there a couple of days ago and it was delicious as usual. I have had their gluten-free pizza, which is good, but this time I had their gluten-free pasta, which you can have with a variety of their sauces. They had a special Quattro Fromaggio something, so I got the gf pasta with that sauce. So good. The Alfredo and meat sauces are also good. The Chocolate Hazelnut Tartuffo is to die for (and gf), and their appetizer of tomato with buffalo mozza is also delicious. And it is in the Old Post Office, easy to find as it has the big town clock on top of it!
Will not be back to this restaurant. The food was not good….simple thing like pizza was dry and cheese was rubbery. When the server asked me how my food was, she blamed the quality of the food on my request to not have sauce on it. Totally unacceptable. The server, who I believe was the Manager or owner, was extremely rude…real surprise for this (normally) friendly town. This establishment is a blemish to the food community in Almonte. They don’t care about return customers.
Very nice. We went to Almonte to spend the afternoon, and had planned to drop into another restaurant for lunch, but it turned out that other place was closed…..so we luckily happened upon cafe postino! The food is excellent. I had the bella parma pannini which was very yummy, and my partner had the pasta special, a gnocci dish which was DELICIOUS!! And the service was excellent. One of the managers was our waitress, and she was lovely and friendly, but not overly present or intrusive. She has a knack for great customer service! I would absolutely go back. There seems to be a lot of appealing restaurants in Almonte, and we will certainly be back for another visit soon, but a return visit to cafe postino is a must!
Classic!. Perfect upscale Italian bistro in the heart of heritage downtown Almonte. Great Mediterranean food in the beautiful Old Almonte Post Office. Husband and wife team Steve and Claire Falsetto combine excellent food and attentive service to deliver a truly delightful experience
