Horrible lunch. Went there today for lunch. Really was excited as the reviews were very good. Started off with the daily soup not being available, but they did offer another choice. When we got the meal the plates were mixed up – I received the right salad but the wrong crepe. I took one bite and could not tell as it was all dough, no filling. Next bite I thought something wrong – I ordered lemon chicken, but was the seafood as I saw a shrimp. We switched plates and I had the lemon chicken to try – wish I hadn’t! Dry, no flavour until near the end where a clump of goat cheese and lemon flavour were found. Btw, did not eat the crepe, just tried filling. One good thing, salad was delicious. Overall one of the worst meals I have had the pleasure of paying for.

Good Place for Lunch. I go to the Mill Street Crepe Company about once a month or so and am always impressed. I am not a giant fan or crepes, but personal preference will not change my opinion that this is a great place. The restaurant is nice and bright and has a great view of Mill Street. My only complaint about the building is that the washroom is not in the restaurant, so you have to leave then come back, which is a little awkward, but not a huge deal. The food is always impressive and they have new crepes every month or so. The soups are fantastic as well. You will have to be a fan of crepes, soups, and salads if you are to go here, if you are not, there isn’t anything else for you. However, that is part of the charm of this small restaurant. My one food complaint is that sometimes they don’t have all of their deserts that are listed on their menu. It would be nice to be told what isn’t available prior to making a decision. Not a deal breaker though. The service is always friendly and professional. When it’s busy, it’s sometimes a wait to get the bill, so I suggest asking for the bill once you order your desert or tea so you get it promptly when you finish.Overall, this restaurant is a great spot in downtown Almonte.
Great for Lunch. I have eaten at the Mill Street Crepe Company on several occasions for lunch. It is a great spot, delicious food and a great atmosphere. I went for supper a few nights ago with my husband and was quite disappointed. Despite having made reservations our table was not ready when we arrived on time. We waited about ten minutes to be seated. The restaurant was full and it took a while for us to get our menus but our order was readily taken. I was a little surprised to see that it was the same menu as their lunch one. There was one person in the kitchen cooking, one waitress and perhaps a busboy there that evening. Our meal took over forty-five minutes to arrive and no apology was made for the wait. The food was delicious but the serving size, small, for dinner. The soup was a half bowl?? The price was reasonable.Summary? Great food, good location, nice atmosphere, need to have larger portions if serving dinner and need more staff.
A lovely little place!. Every now and then, you encounter a food that makes you close your eyes, block out all your other senses and just savour the experience. The Venezuelan Dark Chocolate Crepe is one of those dishes. This crepe is stuffed with rich dark chocolate, sauted mango and passion fruit and is topped with whipped crme and crumbled almond praline. The dark chocolate really plays with the zesty fruit. It is one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. But I don’t just go to this restaurant for the Venezuelan Dark Chocolate Crepe. I also love their soups. A good soup is not always easy to find, but this restaurant consistently knocks it out of the park. For example, today I had the daily soup, which was a cauliflower soup. It was creamy, topped with some grated parmesan cheese and crunchy croutons which, miraculously, never got soggy. I’m still not sure how they did it.Their savoury crepes are delicious as well. One of my favourites is the ham and gruyere, which has sundried tomatoes and apple honey-mustard. I recommend that you take the optional poached egg on top — it elevates this dish to decadence. My only warning is that you will be charged for any refill on your coffee, which is a little surprising. Normally when I am paying $45 for a lunch for two, the refill on my coffee will be gratis. Alas, not here. However, the extra $2 I paid for the refill did not ruin my wonderful dining experience. Also note that there are no bathroom in the restaurant – you must exit the restaurant and take a short trip to the mall bathroom, which seems little odd, but isn’t a big deal. And still, the food is so good, you can overlook the lack of bathroom and the coffee refill charge. It’s that good.
Worth the drive from Ottawa. The mill street crepe company feels very much like a family affair. Staff are friendly, and they take reservations on a Sunday. The crepes are rave-worthy and their truffle-mushroom soup is incredible!! I wish they would have located in an old, rustic feeling building as there are a number to choose from in Almonte. Having said that, I would eat the food they serve anywhere. It is delicious, including the coffee (espresso) that they brew from a local brewery.
Went in for brunch on a Saturday morning in January. The soup (mushroom) was delicious and so was the bacon, apple crepe that made up their fault special. Only compliant would be on the overal temperature of the food, it was far too tepid and could have been warmer. Service was good and attentive. Would return
