This restaurant being one of the good AYCE sushi in Ottawa. But in fact, it is not the best – I think. The foods is quitely good but sometimes the taste is not consistent. But, if you are talking about the price, it could be said that the price is quitely fair for an AYCE Sushi Restaurant. Anyway, the service is quitely fast, but sometimes it comes with an indifferent act.

Been visiting 168 Sushi now and then since they first opened. It was never my favorite but at times it was pretty decent. This place has gone way downhill however and tonight’s dinner was my last. The only two things I actually enjoyed eating were the salmon avocado rolls and garlic beef. The rest of the time I spent regretting driving all the way out, and wishing even more that my favorite ACYE sushi had been open instead. The sashimi and sushi were bland and stale. The tuna smelled off. The salmon was flavorless and seemed semi frozen. The surimi/fake crab was stale and flavorless. They never brought the tamago so I can’t review it. The hamachi rolls had so little fish in them I could only taste rice and seaweed. I was shocked that they had limited ebi/shrimp to 2 per person, at dinner time prices, and didn’t even make that evident on their menu before ordering. But that was okay because the shrimp tasted old anyway and I had no desire to order more. The low sodium soy sauce was definitely not low sodium. They couldn’t even get the green paste right. I call it green paste because it was so dark in the restaurant I couldn’t tell what it was, and the paste tasted like no other ‘wasabi’ paste I’ve ever had. Whatever it was It looked old and disgusting and tasted like bland, gritty sawdust. No kick, no burning sinuses. I don’t care if wasabi is real or fake it just has to be fresh and taste good.Wasn’t interested in many of their other dishes as they many were fried, slathered with mayo, allegedly spicy, didn’t think I could trust the quality, or were just not to my taste. They also have this strange salad buffet in the center now where you can self serve various things. Ice cream, soup, salad, orange slices, puddings/jellys, mango slices, edamame, etc. The soup had nothing in it, just broth, and nothing looked interesting or appealing to me. My dining partner was more adventurous, but said the jello pudding cup thing tasted like Nyquil. The service from the start made me feel like they didn’t want us there, and that we were ordering too much (we ate everything). They also gave us a bad table near the door so we were cold and got to inhale smoke every time someone came or went.Unpleasant. Will not return. Will encourage others to go to better sushi spots.
