This is a favourite for our family and never disappoints. Great food, great variety and welcoming service. The dining room is spacious and decorated with local art, and is usually busy. For many years, it has been requested by the kids (now 13 and 15) and is a treat for all. Many people think of Pho when they think of Vietnamese food and to be honest, that’s never been our go-to dish so I can’t comment on their version of it. But I can say that everything I’ve tried has been good. Our comfort food is the 402b – under the Steamed Vermicelli section. Delicious fresh herbs, carrots, cucumber, bean sprouts and lettuce, topped with vermicelli, crisp spring rolls and your choice of meat (I’m a fan of the lemongrass pork, but chicken is often a second favourite pick with the family.) Served with their nuoc cham fish sauce, it’s so delicious, and filling. We often start with their hot and sour soup to share, or their summer rolls (shrimp, vegetables and vermicelli in rice paper with peanut sauce). When looking for a change, we’ve tried a variety of their other dishes with various sauces and vegetables. Favorites include their sizzling dishes – a little pricier but large helpings and so tasty! And I really like their #418 Stir Fried Vermicelli with curry. It is loaded with chicken, shrimp, pork and eggs much like Chinese Singapore Noodles but with a different flavour given the vietnamese roots. Always service with a smile. I’ve never left hungry or disappointed. Yum.
Excellent Service. Went to Barrhaven Vietnamese for a family dinner last week. We were greeted with a friendly smile right away. Unlike some other reviews, I did not find the wait time for food to be long. I had the shrimp and beef wrap and roll and was happy with the portion. I even had some leftover. I thought it was good, about the same as i’ve had at other places. The employees checked on us frequently and were VERY friendly and personable. 5 stars for service!
Meh, average canadian chinese food
Where’s the meat?. Ordered delivery and they took longer to get here than they had told me. We had ordered Chicken guy ding, chicken fried rice and shrimp with mixed vegetables. The latter was good with lots of shrimp and broccoli. The chicken guy ding was horrible. There was hardly any chicken in it. Not even a chicken breast. All the pieces were tiny and I had to search for them. The vegetables were overcooked and they even put the stems of the broccoli in there! How cheap! The chicken fried rice was bland but not overly salty. I will not order again. Lotus restaurant is still MUCH better!!
Bland, boring – flavours advertised not even present. Dropped by here on a whim to see what the vietnamese food experience would be like; turns out in Barrhaven it is incredibly boring. Two dishes that were ordered for a main course – lemongrass shrimp and a beef dish were yawn worthy. Expecting some pop in the lemongrass flavour made it even more disappointing. Appetizers of vietnamese spring rolls tasted like they were made in last years frying old, on top of being small, greasy and gross. Overall – not worth the stop in.
Worst pho and hot and sour soup ive ever had. We went for dinner tonight after seeing the reviews on here. Summer rolls were good but very small. Hot and sour soup was flavourless almost like a watered down and then thickened with corn starch campbells tomato soup. Husbands pho flavourless and shrimp tasted freezer burnt. Came without the sprouts/ mint etc. I had one taste of soup and my husband had a couple bites of pho. Told them we were unhappy and they insisted we pay full price for everything and proceeded to tell us we were wrong and that is how it should taste. Will never ever return.
Brown soupy salty V10. Ordered this for lunch today with a group of colleagues for pick-up. Food was cold (drive only 2 mins from work). My dish, V10 is described as a vegetarian chicken flavored vegetable stirfry dish. I had to order rice because it didn’t come with any?! and I cannot describe how gross it looked! (see pic) TONS of sauce, onions and tofu chicken?! No veggies at all! On top of how disgusting it looked, it was SUPER salty. for 11.50$ plus tax and a side of rice, I am appalled. This place is highly overrated and I will never eat here again.
