The ice cream is consistently good here, and the staff are always smiling and courteous. We as a family visit pretty regularly. The only downside to it if I was being brutally honest was 1) The tables and eating area are often untidy and in need of a clean 2) It’s time the seating area had an update and refurb.
Spiderman Blizzard Birthday Cake. Last week, I custom-ordered an ice-cream cake online from Dairy Queen in Barrhaven (Riocan) for my 6 year-old nephew. I submitted an image through their order page and requested a Turtle Brownie blizzard cake. They called to confirm that this was possible and gave me the new total. This location is wonderful and very customer oriented. I had requested orange writing on the cake, and they called me later in the week to let know that this would blend in, and suggested alternative colours. Nice! The cake was beautiful and my nephew was thrilled with it. Everyone loved the cake and I cannot thank you enough for a terrific job.
This DQ had the worst service I ever got. My burger was soggy and seemed like it was microwaved, when I went up to the cashier and asked her, she said that its an internal policy for them to microwave it and if I didn’t want that I should have asked. How on earth am I suppose to know their internal policy. This is worse than burger king…, I only took one bite. I wasn’t even rude. I just left unsatisfied. But they will sure never have my business again.
This has to be the WORST Dairy Queen in the city. Apparently they do not know how to adequately schedule their employees because every time I have gone for an after dinner blizzard (usually between 3-6), there is always a line up to the door and the same with their outside order/pick up window. I understand that when the weather gets hot people like their ice cream, my issue is that they are so SLOW I have waited in line multiple times for 5+ minutes before they have actually served a customer. I have never experienced this at any other Dairy Queen restaurant and when I brought I up to a manager one day, I was told to go someplace else, Very disappointed…
Overall good dq. I disagree with Jenny, I don’t think that them having any more staff would make a difference. Especially not cashiers because my order is always taken fast, it’s waiting for ice cream to freeze or blizzards to get all mixed that takes so long for my orders? I also don’t find it expensive, at least not more than other dairy queens and definately not more than baskin robbins or coldstone. If i get there and its busy but i decide to wait in line anyways im not going to complain about the wait times.
Satisfied!. Yeah, they are WAY more busy than other dairy queens. You know why? Because they make my order right every time. Ive been to many other dairy queens in ottawa and they always mess something up, not this one! I’d rather wait an hour and get what i asked for! The staff there is always in a good mood and friendly and the one time they made a mistake on my order the manager came and had it fixed. I live on Parkdale and travel out to this dairy queen even though it’s not the closest by far!
Not impressed. This place is always packed in the summer, the line up goes out the door and they only have 1 or 2 cashiers. For the past 6 years I’ve wondered why they don’t hire more staff? Those poor girls are run ragged! Even if you do wait in line for an hr, the ice cream is runny, and pricey so I expect more than a soggy blizzard! Most times it’s not worth the wait. There’s been so many times that I saw the line up and went elsewhere. This DQ needs to get its act together!
