Few blocks away from my place. it is a goto Chinese restaurant for me. Chicken sweet corn soup and chicken fried rice with salted fish a must order if visiting this restaurant. Service is not that great! huge menu say you can visit the restaurant a number of times as they taste good too. Criticism cannot be taken. Lemon chicken was the worst dish I had in this restaurant. A must go Chinese restaurant in Nepean area.
Parking is horrible if you go at peak hours. Food is good but salty. We went on a Saturday evening at rush hour so we waited 15-20 minutes for a table. Service is similar to any other Chinese (or Asian) restaurants. Overall not bad and will probably go back.
This was recommended to me by my boss, as we’re still trying to get a feel for the best Chinese food in Ottawa. We were impressed by the amount of different food available to be ordered that wasn’t generic Westernized Chinese food. We had the Shanghai noodle soup, which was okay – the broth had a good flavour but could have been stronger for my taste. The noodles were thick udon-like types, I would have preferred something thinner for this kind of soup. The braised beef brisket in the soup was amazing though. The dim sum was really good and big portions, though the xiao long bao was disappointing – there was literally no soup when you opened the dumpling. :(Would go again to try other dishes.
Huge disappointment. We ordered take out of the Spicy General Tao’s Chicken and Spicy Satay Beef with Vermicelli, neither of them were spicy at all! the Spicy General Tao’s was just tangy and had zero heat to it we had to mix a bunch of frank’s red hot into it to make it decentand the Spicy Satay Beef actually tasted like nothing, just soggy flavourless vermicelli with a few slices of flavourless beef so we ended up just throwing it out.
Meh. First of all, the parking for this restaurant was horrible. If you find a space when you come, by the time you leave, you have 2 cars illegally park behind you so you can’t leave. Second, all the food were too salty. I personally already have a salty pallet but the food here just had way too much salt. Thirdly, the service was very slow. Food arrived super slow and the servers didn’t have any emotions.Other then the food being salty, the food was pretty authentic. However, I found the filling in the dumplings all tasted the same. Some dishes were overcooked to the point it was mushy and disintegrating in my mouth.Overall, I probably won’t come back.
The service was bad, but the food was alright. The food was alright – some dishes tasted better than others. I would go back, but I found that the service was bad and the place can get quite crowded. If you don’t speak up you will end up waiting for a very long time without any food.
Better options out there…. Miss the old Lychee View – food was better before they renovated and re-opened the place. Table placement is crowded, making it hard to hear your own conversations on a busy night. The food is bland with hardly any attention to presentation. I tried the General Tao and it had a very off flavour – duck had no flavour, and don’t bother with the pad thai if you’re curious. Out of all the dishes I sampled, I really only liked their soup – but it’s hard to go wrong with that. Better options for Chinese are just another 5 min drive away to Sea King or Chinatown.
