Chitose is an AYCE Sushi restaurant right off the 404 in Newmarket. The place seems rather new and was rather nice inside. Came for the AYCE Lunch on Weekends ($15) which was pretty damn good in regards to the food and the service overall. The appetizers here were pretty good. The Miso soup must have been amazing because my gf was downing them like a sorority girl to vodka. The seaweed salad and shrimp tempura were good. I thought the portion was good and the tempura on the shrimp was light and not overly battered.Sushi was very good for AYCE. The endless amounts of salmon, kani (crab), and shrimp were good enough, but I loved the spicy crab and spicy salmon rolls. They were stuffed to the brim and were atop only a small mound of rice and wrapped in a seaweed blanket. The rolls were also done very well. The Green Dragon and Spicy Crab Meat rolls were my favorite. Nothing really special about them, but they were at least well-put and were hefty under the chopsticks unlike most frail pieces of sushi you’ll find at most AYCE places.Hot Foods were decent. The menu offers up Japanese and Thai options so you’ll find a myriad of choices like curries, teriyakis, stir-frys, and even pad thai. The pad thai was OK. I found the dish to be sauced heavily and overly sweet. The curries were pretty good. I found nice flavor and consistency in the curry. The beef teriyaki was ok. Strips of steak doused in teriyaki sauce. General Tsos chicken and fried rice were ok and the portion was good, but be ready to share or you’ll be full if you’re to order this. The dessert lasted forever as everyone ordered multiple rounds of ice cream. They have standard flavors like vanilla and mango, but I enjoyed their unique ones like the coconut one which was not discovered until it was recommended by our server. It was my favorite one and I’m glad I got to try so much ice cream though my gut won’t be so happy.Loved the servers. Thought they were quick, friendly, and helpful. Even when we were stuffed to the brim, they didn’t look to push us out the door and seemed to be urging us to go on (there wasn’t that many patrons waiting or anything, but it was a refreshing sight). Definitely recommend coming, especially if you’re going to be in the Newmarket area. cheatdayeveryday.com

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a place in Newmarket. The only reason I come to this plaza, if ever, is to shop at No Frills but I guess I have just found a better reason to visit this part of town!Their lunch specials are the best value and quality you can get for a sushi place. I ordered the Lunch special 5C which came with miso soup, 4 pcs salmon sushi and 8 pcs spicy salmon maki roll for $9+tax. The salmon was so fresh, you could tell by the colour! The taste was heavenly too. The rice to fish ratio was pretty good, not too much rice. The rice was flavoured quite well too and wasn’t overly seasoned with vinegar. The miso soup was great, just the right amount of salt, with lots of tofu, mushrooms and seaweed.Overall, this place is a great bang for your buck, especially, for the quality of seafood and service that you get. This will definitely be my go to place for any future sushi cravings!P.S. They have an all you can eat lunch for $15 (dinner for $25). They also have drinks like pop and tea included in AYCE.

Great Food, Value & Service. Ate at Chitose for the first time and enjoyed the food immensely. The service was very attentive and the prices were very reasonable. They have Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes on the menu and good options on the $25 Dinner for Two. We sampled all three types of cuisines and each was masterfully prepared. I ate Mango salad, Coconut Soup & Red Curry Chicken. They were all very tasty. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Really great food, very friendly staff.I strongly recommend and I never recommend. Give it a try, you won’t regret it. It’d be nice if they played Japanese koto music.

Very quaint – nice location and some traditional asian dishes that are harder to find in this area. Staff are very friendly

Alright. Food was moderate, nothing too special. Lacking the extra ‘oomph’ I was expecting for such a well displayed location. ****Complaint**** (Don’t read if not interested it’s really long) I tried the food in the opening months, their debit machine wasn’t working and neither my debit nor credit card would work and I was forced to return the following day to pay off my debt because I was short $5 in cash. The owner tried to convince me that the reason for the machine’s failure was due to my lack of funds in my 2 credit cards and one debit card, which was not the case, I don’t believe I would’ve gone through so much trouble to be able to pay cash for 80% of the meal and come back the following day to pay the rest. The curry was strangely presented, a typical eastern curry is usually served on top of steamed rice, however my order was on a plate without any rice and I had to order a separate order of rice. This minor error shows incompetence of culinary history, however the taste of the curry was decent and wasn’t missing much which made up for this.Overall it isn’t anything special, and it isn’t anything bad at the same time.
