Not a good experience. We went in and asked about the student special they posted outside and it didn’t say anything about it only being applicable on Mondays to Fridays. When we asked about the student special, the waiter requested to see our student identification and then he said that the student special was only for Mon – Fri (we were there on Sat). It seemed like he didn’t want us to order a good deal. So we ended up ordering a dynamite roll and a chirashi which was okay. Quite expensive in general. Would I come back? Probably not because it didn’t seem like they were honest about their deals and it is quite pricey. You can get something equivalent for a lower cost.

Lovely environment! I tr…. Lovely environment! I tried their lunch special (beef teriyaki) and wow!They have lovely environment inside and with classy songs. Although server mentioned they also play bunch of K-Pop song early in the day for high school students om their lunch hours.Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing for quality lunch and to enjoy nice environment. Just to add a little. Server was extremely friendly and at end of my meal, he gave me a little magic show to enjoy!! What a surprise that was lol.Apparently he works every wed/fri/sat so I would say any mothers trying to give their child a fun experience, good option to consider!
WE WILL BE BACK. This is the first time I have tried this resturant. We went for lunch today and upon entry, looking at the lovely decor, I was concerned it would be pricey. There are cheaper places around for sure, but none of them come close to the quality of food, ambiance and food we experienced today.Very pleased and I cannot wait to go back again!
Great sushi! My boyfriend and I were travelling through town and google led us to Ichiban. We took an order to go and the staff there were just amazing; very friendly. We were coming from Waterloo and the staff there had graduated from Laurier. Great conversation while waiting for the sushi order. We received free miso soup and side salads. Ichiban is a very clean and welcoming sushi house. I highly reccommend stopping here!!

Happy Asian Dining for one and all in NewmarketSeveral times after Southlake hospital visits, my husband, kids and I have eaten at various Japanese-Korean restaurants, including Ichiban Sushi. At Ichiban, we’ve never been disappointed. The ambience and presentation are nice; the menu items are good, and the music is upbeat. A licensed bar is near the entrance, while the sushi bar is at the restaurant’s rear, and half the seating faces a wall-mounted TV (from which my kids followed the Olympics). Tables are set for two, four, booths, or party. Even the washrooms are clean, with Van Gogh or impressionist art framed and hung. In typical Korean custom, after the tasty meal, complimentary seasonal fruit is served to guests–though the restaurant is situated in the plaza between a drug mart and a lean/mean icecream & smoothies place named Froyo’s. All in all, Ichiban Japanese-Korean food is sure to please.
