This restaurant is great. Great food, nice decor, friendly staff and a good price. It’s an a la carte restaurant not an all you can eat place. It’s a non descript restaurant located in a plaza with a metro, pizza pizza and shoppers. It’s easy to overlook it, and its a pity if you do.I have only ever gone at lunch time. This is what I’m going to talk about. The last time I went, there were three of us and we all got bento boxes. I got a bilgogi box (yup Korean), the others got a Sushi box and chicken teriyaki box.Started with the standard miso soup and iceberg lettuce salad. The boxes contain vegetable and shrimp tempura, a California? Roll, deep fried tofu cubes with a creamy sauce, and oddly- a great potato salad.Everything was delicious. Tender, flavourful, well seasoned beef, crispy tempura, creamy potato salad. Ok, so admittedly the potato salad was a bit odd, but I do enjoy a potato salad so I liked it. It was a lot of food and not very expensive.Service was good, food came quickly, and we got the bill right away when we asked. A great place to eat. Lunches anyway. 🙂 they have daily specials. On our visit it was chicken teriyaki. They also have a promotion where you save your receipts to get savings. So if you have receipts totalling 100 you can get 10% off. 390 gets 20%. Interesting idea. whatlynnate.wordpress.com
Splendid. Modern to the ‘nth degree, if you’re looking for traditional Japanese ambience, this isn’t the place, but the food is more than worth it. Special mention goes to the servers as well; they are all AWESOME, super enthusiastic, polite and one even does awesome card tricks; if you’re into magic you may be ho-hum about it but if not, they are a lot of fun and they don’t bother your meal experience either. The food is quite good; not up to the level of the elite sushi restaurants I’ve been to, but just a shade below. Their rocket roll is delicious and they are one of the few restaurants that has takoyaki, as well as the ONLY restaurant I’ve been to that has takoyaki AND soft shell crab- both are brilliant by the way- which is a plus.Great stuff, arguably the best place in Newmarket.
