Review of $6.99 (don’t forget the tax) Chicken Biryani Special TODAY!. Preamble: Indian restaurants are a dime-a-dozen in Ontario. The ones in Niagara Falls are mostly overpriced and have very generic and bland fare. Their intent is to cater to tourists and to NON south asians who know virtually nothing about Indian-Pakistani food. Then there are those Indian-Pakistanis who hardly venture outside of their culinary comfort zone, and don’t really care that they are about to eat something mediocre. Their only satisfaction is that they’ve eaten something traditional and familiar. Today’s Indian food lover is not necessarily south asian in origin and often has a very good experience base. I say this with conviction, because I’ve met Indians and Pakistanis who don’t know shit about good food made with quality ingredients. When you have a business to run, corners will be inevitably cut…makes sense, right? The Curry Queen is small, if not cramped and poorly lit. Diners sit in plain view of the kitchen and vice versa. In fact, the kitchen doesn’t even have a door and the din and smell of cooking are in your face. You can see everything that goes on in there, whether you want to or not. There is NOTHING romantic about this place. Not even close! I ordered the advertised takeout biryani special, as advertised. I’m a BIG Chicken Biryani lover. I love this dish. Here’s my review:The portion size was a bit small for the price, but there WERE three decent pieces of chicken, so for value it was reasonable. The first thing I noticed upon opening the styrofoam packaging was the copious amount of oil that permeated and leaked from the box. Not good. There was a layer of raisins on top and too many come to think of it. Raisins and dried fruits are meant to add to the bouquet and flavour of the meal but not in this quantity. The rice grains were a decent basmati, loose and slightly moist, as they should be. There was no clumping. Taste: The rice portion was bland and not savory enough. There was that tell-tale, oft familiar waft of generic, boxed biryani powder flavoring. The chicken meat was moist and tender and not dry, but also TOTALLY without flavor. My guess is that the chicken was cooked separately and added later. It had none of the spicy flavor or fragrance of a chicken biryani dish. Forget about any marinading! Typically, a chicken biryani is a fusion of sweet, sour, piquant, savory and just oozes a type of richness. It’s not an expensive dish to make and a few vital ingredients like nuts, cardamom and peppercorn were missing. There are many, many varieties of chicken biryani but these aforementioned ingredients are standard. Verdict: Bland, boring but filling.PS…Readers, I would be more than a little suspicious of the people who rave about this place as their sole review of any dining experience…EVER!

Worst Customer Service and Getto Packaging of Takeout Food.We ordered Veggie Combo which comes with Daal Makhni, Rice, Paneer, Chana Masala and Salad. When we opened the box, there was no Chana masala and everything was mixed including the salad. The salad was soggy and warm. We wanted Daal Makhni but the Server/Cashier/Owner forced us to take some other Daal instead. She was not happy that we declined and wanted Daal Makhni instead which was on the takeout menu. There was only one takeout box and had 5 items in it. Yes, you guessed it right, everything was mixed up and it killed the flavour.I’m Indian and know Indian food very well. Trust me when I say to stay away from this place.

Fantastic Butter Chicken. I’ve had a lot of Indian food in a lot of different cities and Curry Queen’s butter chicken is near the top of dishes I’ve eaten. In total, it was a very positive dining experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure that we were completely satisfied with our meal. The portions were huge in comparison to what you usually get at most Indian places. The price was a nice plus as well.I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Was looking for a vegan friendly restaurant… This was 1 of the few I found in the area.Went on a Tuesday night, it’s a small little restaurant: had the 12.99$ buffet for dinner. They had 3 vegan dishes and a 4th vegetation (paneer) and 4 other meat plates.Although it wasn’t the best indian I had, it wasn’t the worst. It was high in sodium chloride though.. My god.Perhaps it was on off night? Not sure why the rating are higher then they should be for this…

Good food. I really enjoyed the friendly service and the tasty food. I am not familiar with this food, but loved the lamb kahar and the naan. The roasted chicken was wonderful. I would go again.

Having moved to Niagara Falls from Buffalo where great food is very easy to find, we were incredibly disappointed with the restaurants in Niagara Falls. Great food is few and far between. Well curry queen is definitely the exception!!! Food is great! Some if the best indian we have had from Jersey to NY to Ontario. Flavorful, perfect spice level, qualit meat and ingredients. Naan is really good, better than a few places we’ve been before. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. The decor and interior leaves a lot to be desired but the food more than makes up for it. We do take out so not a big deal to us.Highly recommend

Chicken Rottiserrie. Food here is soooo amazingly great!. The best so far! I was at first afraid to try out Indian Cuisine thinking that it may be too spicy but this place changed my views. My wife and kids love it too (to my surprise). DO NOT MISS on the Chicken Rottisserie. It is simply the BEST chicken I have ever tasted. The buffet spread is not bad at all. Different types of salads, desserts (love it!) and different curries. I am now craving for more as i write this review. The heck, I’ll go eat there now!
