Happened to be in Niagara and found Doc Magilligan’s. Very good place. The portions are huge but with a nice variety of good. The onion soup is awesome. I would also recommend the Taste of Ireland to try and steak stew, curry chicken and shepherds pie. The fish and chips are awesome too.

Good thing they have great food. Now the service is what dragged our visit down. That and an Irish pub that doesn’t know how to pull a proper Guinness…..or are to lazy too, and yes it does change the flavour.

The mustard was a little bit too hot for me, and it brought a tear to my eye, but I digress. I can only imagine what Doc Magilligan’s might look like on St Patrick’s Day. They even have a countdown clock behind the bar that shows the days/hours/minutes/seconds until the next St Patrick’s Day! I have never been to Ireland, but I do hope that this pub is a good representation of an authentic Irish pub. This place looks like fun. And now on to the food. SWMBO loves her pint of Guinness with Fish & Chips. The fresh haddock filets are hand dipped in their house made beer batter, cooked until lightly crispy on the outside, while tender and moist on the inside. The other two in our group chose the Peach BBQ Chicken Sandwich; they were happy with their selection. I opted for something that I had not tried before: Reuben Boxty. A boxty is an old Irish pancake, but looks more like a crepe, which was used to wrap traditional Reuben fillings such as corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. Then it’s drizzled with honey dijon that has a good kick to it. Maybe it should come with a warning, maybe not, but it did bring a tear to my eye!

Authentic Irish Fare with excellent service. We were seated within moments of arriving and order taken promptly afterwards. Food was well prepared, and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.

Great place, been here for different occasions, so many options for food and so far no complaints. Love that they have cider as well. Good prices and very big, great for groups.

Good dining experience!. The first thing that grabs you when you enter Doc’s is the decor. Damn! Apparently, everything was made to order in Ireland and sent here to be assembled. The quality of the furniture, accents, lighting and woodwork is second to none. If nothing, one should come here just for the visuals! I came here one busy night with a guest. I love pub grub and have eaten in many places…I’m a huge fan of this style of cuisine. Good or bad, this establishment aims to diversify the menu with more mainstream, North American items. In other words, it is no longer JUST simple, sustaining, solid, pub fare but becomes more like a restaurant…which is what it actually is. I felt that the selection of draught beers was wholly inadequate for an establishment like this. Most of the beers were insipid North American brands and a few of the lighter Irish/English brands. Rickard’s Red, in my honest opinion is NOT a dark beer of ANY quality and I find it amusing that many pubs and bars start off their list with this insipid Molson-Coors product as if to add legitimacy to their lineup. The service was quick and efficient, and the wait staff seemed attentive and knowledgeable of the menu….waxing with enthusiasm no less 🙂 I ordered the Magilligan’s FIsh and Chips and instead of the standard friend potatoes, opted for the sweet potato (yam?) fries with the mayonnaise-based dipping sauce. The fish and chip batter was light, fluffy and well formed. The portion sizes were more than adequate. I’m not convinced the haddock wasn’t frozen, but I will digress because it was a decent meal. The sweet potato fries were tasty but seemed a bit too oily. I suspect this had more to do with they way they were fine cut, rather than anything else. The dipping sauce was interesting with this curry based mayonnaise and it seemed to complement the fries. I found the overall service great, but the pricing to be a bit high for what it actually was. The menu is a tad pretentious. I was happy with the meal, but a dinner for two with 2 pints of beer, 2 servings of appetizers and 2 fish and chips + tax cost just over $70.00 + tip. I won’t be breaking the bank to come again.

Nice atmosphere! Good food. I took my mom out for lunch here. We had the 10 dollar lunch special. Be aware that the lunch specials are on the small side and you’ll probably need a side dish (of fries) which is what we did. I had the chicken wing chowder which tasted more like spicy cheese soup with chunks of chicken. And for the main I had the steak and mushroom pie which was quite small although tasty. It was pretty good but I wasn’t blown away. My mom had a salad and chicken curry. We both really liked their fries. My mom’s basil pesto salad dressing was delicious! We both enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was my favourite part, there’s some cool antiques and pictures. Overall: Food: 7.5Atmosphere: 9 Service: 8
