I was visiting Canada in May and had not had poutine my entire trip. So this meal at smokes was supposed to give me a taste of Canadian food. However, it disappointed me and left me hoping for better poutine. I got the feeling they were short staffed that day and it would have been better on another day. Sadly, it was my last day in Canada. And having a good poutine in Canada is yet on my wish list.
Like it…but wouldn’t go back often. Pro: Yummy, delicious, innovative flavours. I had the nacho poutine (or something like that.) My mom (a celiac) had the peppercorn gravy poutine because that gravy doesn’t contain wheat. Cons: really expensive, it came to around 18 bucks for 2 poutines (and the one was small), weird location, it’s attached to a motel, awkward to get to for locals. The heat wasn’t on! We went on an unusually frigid day, hoping to warm up inside and it was cold…pretty obvious they hadn’t turned the heat on. I can get delicious poutine at a much cheaper price and more convenient location at fry trucks in this city.
