Stingy for the price. I finally ordered take-out from this place after rave reviews and I can’t help but think that the regulars of this place don’t know they are being totally ripped off. I’ve eaten at Thai restaurants all over Canada and although the price point is always higher than Chinese food, the portion sizes were nothing to complain about, and I prefer Thai. I’m just going to YouTube some authentic Thai and get some Thai friends to share tips because Chang Noi’s is a rip off. $50 worth of take out could BARELY feed me and husband and we are not big eaters to begin with. We are however expecting some even small amount of leftovers when we fork out anything over $40. If you want splurge on small portions, go to fine dining. This place is just an insult.
Crazy delivery charge. I absolutely LOVE this restaurant, the food is great. BUT a $5 delivery charge is a bit much…i live about 2 mins away by car, but i still get charged $5. most places charge 2 if they charge at all. gotta say i likely wont order from here again, even if the food is great…a $5 surcharge on already expensive menu items is just too much like extortion for me to enjoy the food.
Great!. My husband and I ordered takeout from here about a week ago and it was fantastic! We probably wont have Thai anywhere else in st.catharines!
Excellent food – best Thai in Niagara Region. Can’t understand the negative reviews. We have been to Chang Noi’s many times and have never been disappointed. In fact we have taken many of our out of town friends there and they too have raved about it and when they have visited us again have asked to go back there. The food is delicious, nicely seasoned, fresh and well prepared and beautifully presented. As far as the service, I have to agree its not overly friendly but it’s polite (which we don’t mind, we don’t like this artificial friendliness which we get at some restaurants), this may be due to language limitations. We have found that they sometimes don’t grasp what we are saying, not a complaint, they make up for it in graciousness. They have no problem in understanding the dishes which are being ordered, Would highly recommend.
Another thing I forgot to add from my review is that they chince out on sides BIG TIME. The entrees for dinner does not include rice or at least a salad, it’s a separate order basically. So for two entrees, one appetizer and no drinks as well as rice bowls we had ordered, it came to 50 bucks. Fifty bucks for portions that were not exactly 50 bucks worth. Spicy Thai on the other hand wins in terms of service, food and hostesses who actually smile at you when you come into pay for a service. I’m not writing off the restaurant entirely, they have a decent menu although you’d think that the owners would take heed of dissatisfaction from customers when Facebook and twitter can alter their business. I’m not tweeting this review although one more bad experience, its not just the hostess and/or cook having a bad day; its the lacking of attention to detail and service that will be worth mentioning to two thousand people.13 Aug, 2014I’m going to do a step by step review of the restaurant.1. Greeted by a female hostess who seems to hate the world or just had a breakup happen. Not a very warm welcome. I’m expecting this girl to be the owner’s daughter because she went right hack to her smartphone after being seated.2) Ordered appetizer, spring rolls…very good and was prompt. Waitress was very friendly. 3) ordered entre, garlic chicken and oyster beef. Very tasty and came promptly. I would give this restaurant a 4 if it weren’t for miss attitude, which is key when being in the service industry. I give it a 3.
